Rehabilitation should not be seen as a luxury healthcare service. Complex issues require specialist skills and adequate resources. Rising levels of unmet rehab needs have knock-on consequences on health & social care systems. Rehabilitation is an investment.

'No rehab potential' I hate this phrase with a passion, particularly in today's climate of cutting funding and access to rehab services. Pleased it is being recognised for the nonsense it is.
Rehabilitation potential is simply an excuse to reject someone's access to rehabilitation. True? I have looked at David Oliver's (@mancunianmedic) piece and find his hypothesis correct; rehabilitation potential cannot be measured. doi.org/10.1177/026921552211…

How do you feel when you can’t understand? What happens to you when you words don’t make sense? How do you feel in a place where you don’t speak the language? It’s worth considering what people with language impairment face every day….⬇️
In later stages of dementia it can be hard to know how much language someone understands. Words may lose meaning but feelings remain. Find ways to be together that don’t need words - music, looking, touch…’being with’💜#WithSLTuCan

Unlike natural speech #AAC speech isn’t free. In my ABC then F is for funding. Using #AAC costs. Whether it’s hardware, software, peripherals, charging, mounting, warranty, insurance, or printing boards and pages. And there’s a human cost. #AACaware2022 bethmoulam.com/aac-speech-is…
