Acute Medicine Awareness week is here! Talk to a colleague about AIM and not so subtly point out how awesome we are! Additional points if you can remain calm and not throttle the person who tries to say we're an "on call specialty" #TakeAIM

We need a discussion and an open platform where you can pause the superhuman strength expected from our profession without fear of rebuttal! Let's plant more trees and keep the conversation going. Here's to the ones we shouldn't have lost along the way.
Many thanks to @amateuradam & @DoctorsDistress for helping us plant an olive tree @ Sandwell Hospital to remember all NHS colleagues who have died by suicide. This memorial is a destination for reflection and a symbol of love and care for all. #SWBfamily

💀 Unsolicited advice from random surgeons: ‘Stop speaking up you won’t get a consultant job’ 🦴ARCP comment from TPD: ‘Just keep being you’ After a hard time w an acute health issue, operation & recovering. Just what I needed to hear from someone who *actually* knows me🙏🏻

Teachable Moment with med student on why isolated facial injuries (ie no hand or arm injuries) following a fall can sometimes suggest a syncopal cause: Me: if I ran up to you and pushed you over what would you do? Med student: I'd push you back! Yeah, can't argue with that...

I sat down with my FY1 before we scrubbed for a case & had a chat about how he should look at things despite all the negative experiences being shared on here & I started with “FY1 will feel like rubbish but it is a matter of perspective”. I’ll take a risk and share on here 🧵

My favourite phenotype of Med Reg is the exquisitely senior ST19 at the end of a night shift. Arms folded over ragged cardigan, she stares down the nervous post-take consultant who used to be her SHO with the cold glare of a woman whose patience for this bullshit ran out long ago
