He did it!!! Friday night although not official yet had 9 catches for 116 yards and now has over 1,000 yards receiving to go with 1800 rushing and 2900 passing in his high school career!
Tonight, Community School of Davidson's Tyler Johnson has a chance to do something rarely seen in high school football.
Johnson, a senior, is 80 receiving yards away from reaching 1,000 or more yards passing, receiving and rushing in his career. Community School of Davidson plays at Murphy in a third round NCHSAA 2A game Friday.
Johnson played quarterback his sophomore and junior seasons, throwing for nearly 3,000 yards in two years.
He's rushed for more than 1,800 yards in his career. And this year, he's playing receiver, primarily, and has 920 yards.
The N.C. High School Athletic Associationโs record book does not have such a category for the triple Johnson is trying to reach tonight, but only a few high school players, like Daeveon Sistrunk of Brookland-Cayce (SC) High and Sam Rogers of Mechanicsville (VA) Hanover High, reportedly had 1,000 or more passing, receiving and rushing yards.
