This week we were delighted to relaunch the APPG on Cats in the new Parliament. Many thanks to our officers, including new Chair @JohannaBaxter, and Vice Chairs @catecclesstour, Lord Black of Brentwood and @GoddardLord. We look forward to working together to promote cat welfare!

Great to have so many parliamentarians at the @APGOCATS meeting today to discuss some of the key areas around cat welfare, including the Renters’ Rights Act, the Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Bill and vet fees. Thanks to all that attended!

The Kept Animals Bill's pet theft amendment must include cats. The significant welfare impact of pet theft to cats, and the emotional impact on their owners, must be recognised in the pet abduction offence. #tacklecattheft

I was pleased to join APPG on Cats drop in event today where I signed the pledge to protect cats from theft.
The #KeptAnimalsBill proposes to make pet theft an offence but right now only includes dogs 🙀- cats are family too & must be included in pet theft law.

😺Today I joined @APGOCATs at their event in Parliament to raise awareness about cat theft.
📈In 2021, cat thefts increased by 40%.
📝We urgently need the government to bring in the Kept Animals Bill so that we can protect cats from this awful crime. #TackleCatTheft
