'While the BBC gives the impression that LGBTIQA claims are a loophole in the UK asylum system that is widely exploited, the reality is that of all asylum claims made in 2023 only 2% included reference to sexual orientation.'

On the eve of the Gorton & Denton by-election the Labour Party have invented a fake tactical voting organisation to put on their leaflets.
Lying to voters is all they have left.
All the (real) tactical voting organisations agree: only a Green vote can stop Reform on Thursday.

A Warning: there is no tactical voting site called "Tactical Choice"
If you choose to vote tactically it's important to seek independent, impartial advice. And always check the source online, as printed leaflets could be out of date, or even intentionally misleading.

for reasons unknown,@YouGov have taken their perfectly functional website (with easy access to tracking polls, survey results and PDFs) and stripped everything functional out, leaving useless bright coloured slop. Enshittification kills another business

You can palpably feel the desperation...
This kind of disingenuous nonsense from Labour is corrosive to democracy. It's the same nonsense they pulled in Caerphilly right before coming a pathetic third with just 11% of the vote. For Labour, entitlement is the default setting.
This by-election is bigger than day to day politics. Itβs about stopping Reformβs toxic politics coming to my city. The Greens misleading claims, dodgy bar charts & briefings risk letting them in the back door. Only voting Labour can defeat Reform. My letter to @ZackPolanski ππ»
More needs to be said about Fiona Bruce saying 'we talk about the cost of living every week' in response to @ZackPolanski As if immigration is also not mentioned every week on #bbcqt. The BBC is itself playing a part in creating public connections of immigration as a key divide.
It's click bait journalism. Both Zack and, to be fair Daisy Cooper (largely) did an excellent job tonight. But the fixation on migration from the media is blocking the capacity to meaningfully address the real issues facing this country.
Once again, I am appalled by the descent of the UK Labour party into apologism for the worst kind of scapegoating. Labour are aping the rise of fascism in this country, as the Tories did before them. And the BBC is contributing to the conditions in which that is happening.
Zia Yusuf truly is an odious and nasty individual. To show such disdain for a member of the public who has given their life to working in the NHS says everything about his character. A thoroughly repulsive member of an utterly vile party. #bbcqt

The embrace of far-right narratives by this government puts new urgency to the need for a mass appeal popular left alternative of the kind that @ZackPolanski is proposing.
In the coming leadership election I will be supporting #BackZack
My initial inclination had been to wait until all candidates were announced before making up my mind. But today makes things clearer, Labour are handing the keys to the UK to fascists. There is little time to shift the discourse and we need to be vocal now, without further delay.
π§ Major delays from Network Rail on the Oxford Rail Station project and its effects on the Botley Road have caused serious disruption to the lives of residents in Oxford!
That's why tonight we're calling on the City Council to take legal action. π

Elon Musk's statements are a clear attempt to interfere with UK democracy and are hugely contributing to the dissemination of misinformation and conspiracy theories. The UK government needs to take action to ensure his money is not used to influence UK elections.
Some of the information he is sharing could also be unlawful (e.g Stirring up Racial Hatred). His activities could well undermine the safety of many UK residents. This goes so far beyond social media and, given his position In the US administration, an urgent response is needed.
In light of a certain Billionaire owners tweets, which are now outright expressions of support for far-right white supremacism, I will be shutting this account down at the end of the week.
My handle in the other place is the same if you wish to continue following.
