We have started discussions with @HMRCgovuk on what this may mean for our members. Plucking numbers out of thin air, without a proper plan, is not the way for any Government to operate. If you are not already a member, there isn’t a better time to join - fda.org.uk/join

Civil servants have a code of conduct, like many other professions, but ours is also part of the law. So when that code is under threat, we made the difficult choice to challenge the Government by judicial review. Read more here ⬇️

Civil servants have been placed in the invidious position of facing a legal conflict between the instructions of ministers and their obligations under the Civil Service Code. That's why we've launched a judicial review of the the Safety of Rwanda Act🧵 inews.co.uk/opinion/as-civil…

JRM would be better reading and supporting the fundingthenation.org/ report from @ARC_Union @FDA_union which finds that if HMRC were properly funded, it would result in improvements to customer service AND increase revenue for the Treasury. It’s NOT about home vs office working

Our National Officer for Ofsted Matt Newman responds to the Education Secretary saying that she “would probably have punched” Ofsted inspectors
The @FDA_union, who represents Ofsted inspectors, called Keegan's comments "unacceptable" “For a minister to suggest that it is acceptable to assault inspectors is irresponsible and dangerous. It will only serve to undermine the credibility of the inspection process.”

The government is sending the clearest possible signal that it does not value the civil service and wants to treat it differently to the rest of the public sector. My statement on why the FDA is launching a national ballot on industrial action ⬇️

By mass pile on, do you mean dozens of civil servants across three government departments - over four years - raising complaints through a process that requires the Prime Minister’s agreement to even investigate? In that case, I’m not sure you know what a mass pile on is.
I’m beginning to suspect the mass pile on by some civil servants is in itself a form of bullying. spectator.co.uk/article/domi…

Sunak needs to prioritise those people at the heart of these complaints against Raab, rather than retaining political control. It's the only way civil servants can have any confidence in the process.

Under the current terms of reference, Rishi Sunak alone will determine the outcome of complaints against Dominic Raab. That process is clearly flawed. I’ve written to the Prime Minister to call for the Independent Adviser to be given power to make recommendations on the findings.
