I’ve been conflicted about Twitter for a while. Will’s post has persuaded me to stop participating. This is, ever more so, the unaccountable vanity project of an owner who’s pitifully & dangerously lost the plot. 1/ 3

I’m deleting the app, but keeping the handle so no one can pretend to be me. For now, I’ll be on LinkedIn and Substack 2/ 3

Most likely it’ll be better for my general wellbeing & productivity too. Maybe I’ll do more writing and less doom-scrolling 🤷‍♀️ It’s also just not a very useful platform anymore. Thanks for all the good-faith interactions on here over the years! 3/ 3

Our diversity is our greatest strength, there is no place in our city for those who try to divide us. The violence we have seen across the country, and in South Yorkshire, since the devastating attack in Southport is not protest, but hate. 1/

Welcome to see @Ed_Miliband announce a bumper renewables auction round budget of over £1.5bn 👏 As @Ember recently reminded us, offshore wind is 60% cheaper than the alternative - fossil gas. gov.uk/government/news/recor…

The latest blog explores an expansive idea of #beauty put forward by @fionacreynolds, a former Director General of the @nationaltrust. She told Amy on the podcast: “we need to get back to the soul of our movement, and beauty is a wonderful way of capturing that….” (1)

Hopeful comments from @Ed_Miliband on new grid developments: "This is not just about community benefits but community shares, #community ownership" "We can integrate concerns about #nature right at the beginning of the planning process" theguardian.com/environment/…

Recent report from @Regen_insight had some good suggestions on how to deliver energy infrastructure more efficiently, with better public engagement. (NB already good progress on #4!) regen.co.uk/publications/loc…

Exaggerating the costs of climate action is a classic "discourse of delay" Yes we need trillions of dollars, but it's an investment: the benefits (avoided damage, economic growth, fuel savings) outweigh costs. Ask whose interests are served by massive climate finance estimates.
No @McKinsey, it will not cost $9 trillion per year to solve #ClimateChange, it will only cost a small fraction of this amount medium.com/oneearth/no-mckin… #EnergyTransition

The UK’s strength in offshore #wind is old news. But the prospect of the British public having a direct stake in its success is a new direction for #energy policy thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Primary #steel production is a strategic industry for the UK. Instead of letting the sector continue to lurch from crisis to crisis, the govt should insist on - and invest in - a proper transition from #coal to #hydrogen
🚨BREAKING: Right now the climate movement is uniting in solidarity with steelworkers outside Tata Steel HQ in London. You may be wondering - why is Greenpeace supporting steelworkers? 🧵

Might seem counterintuitive but I think it’s v important - bringing together politics and an expansive idea of “beauty”. With a cast of characters including @fionacreynolds @adriennemaree @cprepdsy @nationaltrust & my former neighbour affectionately known as Gordon the Warden
Out now: the blog post to accompany Episode 8 with @fionacreynolds. It explores whether the #climate movement should be fighting for #beauty politicalheat.substack.com/p…
