I loathe to make the slippery slope argument but they're not going to stop at requiring you to monitor your 3D printer so you don't print guns. If they can claim simply because something is in computer code that is not considered free speech, then your PC is prime real estate for the government to spy on. This is like asking word processors to report everything back to the government so that they can make sure you're not writing something illegal. "But I don't do illegal things," I hear you say. Not yet you don't. That day is coming.

This 3Dprinting law fare is a serious problem. Not just for myself but for other basic rights in the US around free speech. What if our speech is not considered free if “code” delivers it? Could our speech online be deemed unprotected because the machine used code to send it? Thats the kind of wild implications that can happen from general wide sweeping laws that are happening right now. 3Dprinting and code is not the problem - just like electricity didn’t spawn demons in your house or that video games made people violent when they grew up. You Can’t slap a lock on a making device and expect those wishing to do harm to not just pry it off. They have bad intentions. A lockout will not stop ghost gs. This trajectory means good innocent people and a whole industry of manufacturing IN AMERICA will be affected. 3 states in the country trying to pass laws like this. You’re hurting innocent peoples livelihood by passing judgements and laws that are not solving the problem of illegal firearms. It’s like doing articulate surgery with a hammer.
