Science is a career full of rejection & self doubt. Most scientists don't go around collecting awards & kudos but sit there wondering if anyone reads our papers. Telling a scientist whose work you like that you value & appreciate what they do is a small & very meaningful gesture.

1. My top imaging trick to trainees is that before they spend any time taking pictures of the data they just sit there for a while & look at the stuff. Like seriously, sit back, crank some tunes, get cozy & spend some quality time with your slides.

So proud of @cellbiolauren !! Started in my UG class during COVID and found her niche in research in my lab. Now she's got First Place in the @ECLaserTag Image Competition AND Best Graduate Podium Presentation at @ecurcaw. I'm sure this is just the start of great things for her!

In science, unless you're a lucky superstar, you won't get a lot of ve feedback. Or to be precise the ratio of -ve feedback to ve feedback is like 10 to 1. This is especially true as you advance in your career. Bottom line: you have to truly believe in yourself & in what you do
