Bilgi paylaşıldıkça güçlenir, deneyim uygulandıkça derinleşir. IURES bünyesinde IURES FuncURO ve IURES Andro Özel İlgi Grupları olarak gerçekleştirdiğimiz 2. Cerrahi Uygulamalı Kadavra Diseksiyon Kursu başarıyla tamamlandı.

Anatomi doktora eğitimimle birlikte başlayan bu yolculukta, 16 yıldır ürolojide kadavra modeli üzerinden birçok cerrahi eğitim organize ettik. Bu süreçte eğitici olarak yer aldım; onlarca makale ve bildiri hazırladık, yaklaşık 200 organizasyonda aktif görev aldım. Şunu çok net görüyorum: Cerrahiyi öğrenmek isteyen, özellikle genç meslektaşlarım; önce “cerrahi anatomi”yi derinlemesine anlamak, ardından cerrahi teknikleri adım adım görmek, uygulamak ve bizzat deneyimlemek istiyor. Bu kursların her dakikası bilgi ve beceriyi artırmaya odaklı olduğu için, çoğu zaman birçok kongreden daha fazla ilgi görüyor. Bugün de IURES FuncURO ve IURES Andro özel ilgi grupları olarak Akdeniz Üniversitesi Anatomi Laboratuvarı’nda gerçekleştirdiğimiz kursumuzda, 15 farklı şehirden 30 katılımcıyı ağırladık. Büyük bir dikkat ve motivasyonla dinlediler; yorulmadan, sıkılmadan diseksiyon yaptılar. Bu kez onlar uyguladı, biz mentorluk yaptık. Herkes o diseksiyonu kendi elleriyle hissetti. It has become apparent in Turkiye that young docs with the highest scores tend to choose derma and plastic surg, while residency positions in pediatr, cardiac surg, neurosurg remain unfilled. Warnings are being raised that this trend could turn into a public health problem.

The FDA approval of EV Pembro in cisplatin ineligible muscle invasive bladder is based on pCR=57% & OS HR of 0.5 vs cystectomy alone. Initial systemic therapy rather than surgery is now preferable for all eligible pts. I suspect this is not the last we hear from EVP in MIBC.
