When I was a young man struggling in NYC, a good friend of mine, Steven Cullo, let me crash in his music studio. Every morning, I’d wake up to these dope beats, and when I came out into the studio, there was this young producer and his rapper he was producing. We were all young cats, and his crew would light up, and we’d hang. All hip-hop heads. At that time, he did not smoke, but they’d ask me to play them some rich shit so they could look for beats and hooks. The rapper was Mic Geramino, and the producer was Irv Gotti. Cut to two years ago, and a mutual friend put us together, and I went to Irv’s crib, and we caught up, remembering a simpler time. RIP Irv. You made your mark. You made history. But you were always that kid from Queens.
