One can make the case this is what happens when you successfully scale a protocol & network stack. A singular Ethereum conf for the Ethereum community makes as much sense as an “Internet conf” for the “Internet community”. Too ubiquitous a technology with too much surface area.
We have failed Ethereum as a community. Make Ethereum great again. Make Ethereum unite again. Some thoughts after token2049, ethglobal and breakpoint: I'm kinda disappointed in us as a community on how the level and quality of events have degraded over the years. This train of thoughts was ignited by Solana's Breakpoint. Last 2 days, while i was attending and rushing to multiple events and talking to same people or maybe some new, solana community was in one single building enjoying one of the most immersive experience of events. No one, literally no one who attended Breakpoint had anything bad to say. Everything was so organized, so interactive, and so vibe-y. Every single speaking session had 80% seats filled while ethereum side events had empty chairs. idc what u say about solana, but they have succeeded into building one of the best community and events and it's because it doesnt have 100s of companies fighting each other for attention. One chain. One community. One event. You know the issues with token/ethcc/ethdenver? If any of these events are from 9am-6pm, you all mfers had to organise events during same dates at the same time. If im at altlayer's rollup day, i also will be going to xyz event in 2 hours. There was NOTHING like this for solana. If Breakpoint is from 9am-5pm, there are NOO fkn side events on the same date and same time. (A few parties later in the night tho) I think this is where we have lost to Solana. All companies are fighting so much against each other that we are not able to efficiently capture the attention and bring our own community together. What's the solution? Be it Devcon or a new event, please understand the fact that you do not have to host your own side event just for brand building and brand awareness. Come together and host one big conference for 3 days. All things in there. Make it vibes. Make it fun. Make it interactive. Do whatever, but if the Eth community and orgs keep going on like this in terms of events, there will be a real exhaustion mentally and financially on the teams. You dont need to host multiple parties or side events, you just need to do some things very very efficiently. Im happy to help and work with teams and projects if someone thinks it's a great idea, but ik y'all mfers wont learn and host 400 side events at Devcon (3-4 popup city, 7 hackerhouses already confirmed lmao) So yea, guess we'll never learn no matter how many events.

Network-as-product. A decentralized infrastructure like @Livepeer delivers a set of capabilities to video developers, but to do so it relies on a whole network of actors including node operators (orchestrators), token holding delegators, gateway service providers, tool builders, and more. They all coordinate around the actual protocol specification itself, and respond to the encoded economic incentives. The output of this coordinated group of individual actors is the network-as-a-product. But each stakeholder group also needs its own well defined and usable products in order to easily be able to interact with this complex system. I'm looking to hire a technical senior product manager, to work closely with me and our outstanding engineering team. They will help organize and shepherd the Livepeer network product suite. Experience and enthusiasm for operating on, and building against, decentralized networks required. livepeer.org/jobs/4502390

You can think of @Livepeer as a form of Universal Basic Compute. Token holders lay claim a slice of fee-generating compute on the network when they opt to participate via delegation. And its token is the 2nd most widely held in the world as a result of the 2018 merkle mine

This is really impressive. @Kautukkundan and team at @0xStackr are quietly shipping step function improvements to both blockchain infrastructure and devx. State explorers > block explorers.
1/ The first step to re-imagining Block Explorers. ✨Introducing the Stackr Playground ✨ Block explorers need a major upgrade to show app-specific data, we decided to take it in our hands by building a *State explorer* for Micro-Rollup's state machines.

On today's @Livepeer Ecosystem Call we talked about the path to bring AI based video compute onto the GPU-rich network in the next 4 months. As is consistent with Livepeer's journey over the last 7 years, we'll work to show real, usable, functional, open source software and network capabilities before we do promotion that "Livepeer has this", but here is the short version of our plan to get there: 1. Select a specific initial use case for an additional job type, beyond just video transcoding: AI based Generative Video, supported by AI upscaling and frame interpolation. Great open models are evolving every day in this space. 2. Move quickly by building within a fork/spike of the node software to add these capabilities to both our orchestrator (supply side) node, and broadcaster (demand side) node. 3. Users running this spike will form a sort of sub-network on Livepeer, but they will use Livepeer protocol for discovery and payments to nodes running this new capability through Livepeer mainnet. 4. Work with a frontend consumer facing app to leverage Livepeer's highly cost effective open compute network, and to capture and showcase data that validates the cost effectiveness of Livepeer relative to public clouds. 5. After we validate this, merge into the core Livepeer clients, add additional job types, and grow the ecosystem around leveraging additional forms of AI based video compute. AI is one of the most important technologies of the decade. As it relates to video, it dramatically lowers the barriers for content creation and levels the playing field for individuals relative to high-end production houses. It's critical that there are open models and open infrastructures accessible to developers and startups, to avoid a future where the few big tech clouds control both the infra and access. It's going to take a lot of work from our whole ecosystem, but looking forward to running at this through the end of the year and into 2024.
