100% on board with this opinion. Thereโ€™s so much depth to animation that is ignored in most western game animation. AND this can be done with mocap! We can apply principles of animation to mocap if directors embrace it. Mocap hand key = future of animation ๐Ÿ”ฎ
This is a great glimpse into the future of game animation. Embracing fundamentals & applying the principles of animation to create something meaningful. Its time for game anim to move past realism. We are no longer held back by tech or hardware. The craft should lead us forward.

๐Ÿ“”Anim Tip #6: More English ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง @JamesVietChe1 once told me to โ€œadd more englishโ€ to my anim. I gave him the most confused look. He smirked, and explained it can be hard to read a weapon when it's in line with the camera, so add โ€œenglishโ€ by rotating the weapon to see more of it!

@PTezoc gave me this anim note sometimes in reviews, especially for the blades of chaos. In the first anim I show, I felt like turning the blade totally sideways didn't make sense, but in gameplay it does help the blade's readability by giving it that bigger shape! Thanks Bert!

๐Ÿ“”Anim Tip #5: Hand Shake Layer ๐Ÿช‡ If you flex your arm, you'll feel your muscles vibrate and it shakes your fist. During polish, add a shake anim layer on the IK hand ctrl when the muscles are tight or hit a hard surface. It'll be more powerful, in the same way as camera shake!

Venom animation I did during preproduction on Spider-Man 2. We ended up going in a slightly different direction than this test, but it was a blast to experiment with how much he could potentially morph around. The 2D animation was done in photoshop. #SpiderMan #SpiderMan2PS5

For the Kratos finisher, notice how I have him immediately go from the gut punch to grabbing the sword. There used to be several seconds there of Kratos pulling back and getting ready to grab the sword. I also removed a couple steps of Kratos stepping back to lift the giant sword
