I started this account to fight #Antisemitism in the run up to #GE19 When Corbyn lost, things improved slightly but now the #Jewish community is facing a fight for its survival. #Israel is going nowhere. It will prevail. #AmYisraelChai #IStandwithIsrael

My friend Ben has left the UK. Another is making plans. This isn’t good.

The UK is ranked 31st out of 32 on a database comparing how Nato members are meeting their rearmament promises. The only country below the UK is Iceland, which has no armed forces.

CST welcomes the Court of Appeal’s confirmation that the proscription of Palestine Action is lawful. This judgment clarifies that Palestine Action's campaign of ideologically-driven violence, intimidation and criminality crossed the threshold from legitimate protest into illegal extremism. It is right that the law draws a clear line against those who threaten national security and community cohesion, and we will continue to work with partners to ensure that Jewish communities and wider society are protected.
BREAKING: The government's decision to ban Palestine Action as a terror organisation was lawful, the Court of Appeal has ruled. Live updates: trib.al/gn6Vwk3 📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube

Great tweet.
You look at Labour this week and wonder if anyone in government is thinking straight. Assisted dying back in Parliament. Labour MPs planning a “summer of sex”. Billions for cycle lanes while defence is underfunded. It’s like the Labour students union is running the country. Britain needs focus. Defence. Energy. Work. Security. Growth. So I’m giving a speech at 11am today on how we solve the problem of Defence funding. The Conservatives are doing the hard thinking because our country deserves better than gimmicks, drift and fatuous nonsense.

Keir Starmer’s ultra-loyalist MP Lauren Edwards received £25k from the Labour Together ‘campaigning think tank’ and Gary Lubner. She hopes to honour Starmer’s secret manifesto promise to Esther Rantzen by resuscitating Kim Leadbeater’s fake assisted dying ‘private member’s bill’.
Lauren Edwards MP, who is proposing to resuscitate the assisted dying private member’s bill, has no specialist education or experience in either its clinical or legal aspects. Nor does her CV show any prior interest in issues of individual decision-making towards the end of life

I appreciate I'm not the most likely Parliamentarian to persuade a Labour MP of anything, but: - the Bill can hardly be described as the "safest in the world" when even its Lords sponsor thought it needed 70-odd amendments last time round; - no Royal Medical College or indeed any professional body will say the Bill is safe. It is to be hoped that the Labour leadership will think again before giving further parliamentary time to a Bill which has proved so divisive in both the Commons and the Lords. It's clear that the country is simply not ready for this assisted suicide Bill.

Finish the job is a rather unfortunate phrase in view of the subject. A bill supported by no medical people because of the dangers and not in the manifesto. I just hope I can outlive the gov and the Tories can reverse this.
A fresh attempt to legalise assisted dying in England and Wales has been launched, with the MP behind the plan telling the BBC she wanted to "finish the job". Lauren Edwards, the Labour MP for Rochester and Strood, said she would bring an identical bill to the one passed by the Commons last year. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gy…

Extraordinary. She isn't just reintroducing Assisted Dying as a concept she's bringing back exactly the same bill that got utterly eviscerated last time round. No serious charity or professional body with skin in the game supports it. NONE!
The Assisted Dying Bill is to return to parliament for second attempt, writes ITV News UK Editor @PaulBrandITV itv.com/news/2026-06-14/assi…

It beggars belief that we’re back here again despite all the evidence. If we care about vulnerable people and if we care about being evidence led, we will reject this outright at 2nd reading, put an end to this nonsense and fix palliative care instead.
Lauren Edwards MP statement says “[The TIA bill] was rightly described as the safest and most robust assisted dying law anywhere in the world” No. It was only described this way by the people trying to push it through. Here is how others described the Bill: 1. The Royal College of Physicians said the Bill is unsafe 2. The Royal College of Psychiatrists said the Bill is unworkable, and unsafe 3. The British Geriatrics Society said the Bill’s safeguards are not adequate 4. Domestic abuse charities said the Bill is unsafe 5. Organisations representing disabled people said the Bill is unsafe 6. Royal College of GPs says the Bill lacks adequate safeguards 7. Lord Stevens, ex NHS CEO, said legislating for assisted dying in the current climate of hospice cuts is “utterly ridiculous” 8. MIND says the safeguards are not adequate 9. The CLADD group at KCL (DOI) have said the Bill is “not fit for purpose” 10. The British Association of Social Workers say the Bill’s is not safe enough Spot the pattern?

It would appear that a Labour MP is bringing forward the assisted suicide Bill this week once again. The same assisted suicide that has already been rejected. The same assisted suicide Bill that doctors, disabled people, Royal Colleges all say is unsafe. Awful and out of touch.
It’s a gorgeous summer’s evening here in Newcastle-under-Lyme. About to pack my bag for Parliament and have just been told that there will be *breaking news* at 9:30 tonight. The Assisted Dying Bill is going to brought back to the House. Bad, bad news.

I support assisted dying, but this is the same appalling Bill put forward by Leadbeater (doing Starmer’s dirty work). It still lacks appropriate safeguards, and still has no support or buy in from professional medical associations. Stop it, come back with a Bill fit for purpose

NEW: The Assisted Dying Bill is returning to Parliament this week. Labour MP Lauren Edwards will reintroduce it on Wednesday after coming 2nd in the private members’ ballot. “The process has been frustrated by a small minority”, she argues.
