Muslim Tech Fest 2026 brought together a network of politicians, activists, investors, and organizations promoting the so-called "Ummah Economy," the idea of building Muslim-focused business, investment, media, and technology ecosystems.
Speakers included Humza Yousaf, the former First Minister of Scotland and member of the Turkish-backed Muslim Impact Forum, and property billionaire Asif Aziz, a major funder of Islamic causes and London's Ramadan Lights.
Partners included Al Sharq Forum, founded by former Al Jazeera chief Wadah Khanfar, who has faced criticism over links to Islamist movements; iERA, whose stated mission is to spread Islam globally; and BIMA, which campaigns for greater accommodation of Islamic practices within Britain's healthcare system.
Terms repeatedly promoted at the event included the "Ummah Economy" (Muslim economic cooperation), "faith-driven entrepreneurship" (business guided by religious values), and "faith readiness" (rating employers based on accommodation of religious practices).
