🎺So excited to convene the upcoming series, 'Black British Artists and Political Activism' with @PaulMellonCentr. It's a fabulous line up of artists and scholars in conversation around the porous lines between art and politics. Book your place here: bit.ly/3m3JeRG 1/6

The death of bell hooks has made me intolerably sad. I don't have a particular quote. But her writing made me feel that the university can neither contain nor consume me. Or you.

Like so many bell hooks was my introduction to a tangible& rigorous feminist politic. But what I return 2 in this moment, as we navigate CRT attacks, is her claim “the classroom remains the most radical space of possibility” it’s why they target it & why we must hold this space.

I’m striking because how else do I express my dismay that for more than a decade uni mgmt have enriched themselves while cutting non-mgmt staff pay 17%; robbed our pensions; increased precarity & workload; done nothing effective to materialise equality? #WhyImStriking #UCUstrike
