US intelligence sources say Iran has escalated efforts to secure its near weapons-grade uranium by collapsing tunnels and booby-trapping entrances with explosive mines, CNN reports, citing five sources familiar with the intelligence.
The uranium stockpile, estimated at roughly half a ton of highly enriched material, is now more difficult and dangerous to access, the sources said.

Iranβs Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Saturday Tehran should receive payment for services it provides in the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the release of Iranβs blocked funds would be an βintegralβ part of any agreement.
Esmail Baghaei said the sides had agreed that the nuclear issue and related matters would not be addressed at this stage, with the focus instead placed on ending the war and issues related to Lebanon.
He also said the presence of foreign military bases and forces in the region must come to an end.
The spokesman described Iranβs measures to "manage safe traffic" through the Strait of Hormuz as both a step to protect its national security and an effort serving the broader interests of the international community.

NEW: SriLankan Airlines flight UL606 from Colombo to Sydney gets struck by lightning on departure from Colombo, causing damage to its left engine.
The Airbus A330-243 returned to the departure airport following the incident.
