Fireworks Notification
On Sunday, 6/14/26, as part of UFC Freedom 250, there will be short bursts of fireworks prior to each bout.
At the conclusion of the event on the South Lawn and the Ellipse of the White House, there will be a 6 minute finale near the National Mall.

Have you seen those spotlights at the White House ahead of Sunday's UFC event?
I was curious if they would be an issue for pilots taking off and landing at Reagan National as those lights are tested, and put into use.
An FAA spokesperson tells me those spotlights are not strong enough to obstruct a pilot's view even if they were to move and be pointed in the direction of a plane.

Note: While commercial pilots are restricted from flying low over the White House, you can see how these lights span outward. That's why I asked about any potential issues for pilots and their ability to see.

The design renderings for The Global War on Terrorism Memorial have just been shared—it will be built just north of the Lincoln Memorial.
Congress and President Trump approved one to be created in 2017.
Congress and President Biden approved the memorial to be built on the Mall in 2021.
