Crossbills seem to be omnipresent around @FI_Obs at the moment with high single figures seen most days. The Obs garden is a favoured spot for them, where they occasionally make their way into one of the mist nets, allowing for a rare chance to admire them upclose.

There are still occasional #bats out and about in this freezing weather with snow on the ground. Natterer's Bats are rare in the garden, but there was one last night - probably the latest ever in the NE. @NESMammals @Mammal_Society @_BCT_
