He and the team are doing a superb job despite it being a tough time for high street businesses. Fish and chip shops are a huge part of our communities, supporting jobs, bringing communities together, and of course providing the nation’s favourite dish. Days like today are a great reminder to get out and support them. If you can, I’d really encourage you to treat yourself tonight and pick up from your local chippy! Great to pay a visit to East Midlands Airport. ✈️ Many thanks to Miles Pattison for the behind-the-scenes tour, which included the control tower. @EMA_Airport plays a big role in our region, supporting jobs, connecting local people to destinations across Europe, and driving economic growth with its major cargo operations. Glad to see firsthand the impact it has on South Leicestershire and the wider East Midlands. Wishing the whole team continued success!

Great to hear directly from local businesses across Leicestershire. We’re lucky to have so many brilliant entrepreneurs here, but it’s clear there are growing pressures facing businesses of all sizes, from exporting and regulations to hiring and the rising tax burden. It was really valuable to sit down with local Conservative colleagues and have an honest conversation with business leaders about what government needs to do to better back businesses and unlock growth. Before vs After video... 📺 Great to return to the @centricaplc Academy at Magna Park for its official opening, having last visited in December 2025while it was still being built. This £35m investment is a major boost for South Leicestershire, with the academy set to train thousands of engineers each year in vital skills such as heat pumps, EV chargers, solar and battery storage. It will also support Centrica’s positive ambition to expand apprenticeships and strengthen its 7,000-strong engineering workforce. A brilliant example of industry leading the way: creating skilled jobs, supporting apprentices, and helping deliver the UK’s transition to a cleaner energy future.

With temperatures set to rise, @RSPCA_official is reminding dog owners to take extra care to protect their pets' welfare. Never leave a dog in a car on a hot day and always be careful around walking them during spells of warm weather.

Today we’re forcing a vote in Parliament to get Britain drilling and save 200,000 jobs. Labour MPs have a choice: Vote to back North Sea Oil & Gas, or back Ed Miliband’s plan to completely shut down a hugely profitable British industry.

A pleasure to visit @BrockingtonColl, meet some brilliant students and speak with Principal Barton. I asked Mr Barton, what would his message be to MPs?

I spoke to @bbcemt about the disgraceful illegal waste dump in Shawell, broadcast today. This is part of a growing national problem, and now our communities in South Leicestershire are paying the price. This kind of environmental crime is completely unacceptable. I’ll keep pushing for those responsible to be held to account.

Disgraceful: 30,000 tonnes of waste has been illegally dumped near Shawell Village. This appears to be organised, industrial-scale environmental crime and it is completely unacceptable. No community should have to face this. I will be raising this directly with the Prime Minister and pressing for a full investigation to ensure those responsible are found and held accountable. I have been receiving regular updates from the Environment Agency, who today showed me the full extent of what we are dealing with. I’ll keep you updated on what happens next.
