Can we...just accept that we suck at this? I want to tell you a story that has made me kinda hopeless about Twitter's ability to affect positive things happening, and it starts with this tweet from Hillary Clinton. x.com/HillaryClinton/status/…

Helena Bibowa, the oldest and only surviving native speaker of a tiny language called Wymysiöeryś is turning 102 today. In honor of that, let me take you along on the story of Wymysiöeryś. It's of death and resurrection, and a hefty deal of random, but I promise it's a happy one.

Another year of students not laughing when I said, “Weber is not only known for his propane grills, he also dabbled in social theory.” I might have to retire this joke. I think some actually wrote it into their notes.

What if instead of asking kids what they will be when they grow up we asked them which layers they'll look after?

Duolingo’s definition of “innovate” is to dumb down its app and remove helpful features without any explanation. But hey, at least the new version has a lot of really delightful animations.

Working on a chapter of Njál's saga today and I have two main feelings about it: 1) I feel sorry for the man named Úlfr óþveginn, known for all time as 'Wolf the unwashed'. 2) Since his job is 'master of guests' (gestahǫfðingi), I feel quite sorry for the guests too.

Has anyone succeeded in completing a “Match Madness” on the new #Duolingo “path” without buying extra time as an in-app purchase? Feels a bit manipulative… @Duo_is_sad

Glad to see I'm not the only one disappointed in the scheduled Duolingo update. They're literally about to ruin all the work I put into creating my study schedule 🙄

I suppose ⁦@duolingo⁩ paid a lot of money for an ill considered #duolingoupdate so they are trying to recoup the costs. We now have to use extra gems for the second and third stars. Pathetic tactics, which are not doing their reputation any good.
