This is what they've said: "But for countless children, especially those who feel shut out or unheard offline, social media isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline – a source of community, identity, and vital support. “A blanket ban would take those spaces away overnight and risks driving teenagers into darker, unregulated corners of the internet. Everyone involved in this debate will have the best interests of children at heart, but children’s fundamental right to participate safely in the digital world, to access information, to connect with peers, and to have their voices heard must be protected. They should not be stripped of those rights because tech companies have repeatedly failed to build platforms that protect them."

I had social media growing up so I deeply understand the concerns. But growing up I didn’t have access to tutors. My mum wasn’t around as she worked evenings. When I needed help revising for my GCSEs, I turned to educational content on YouTube. For kids from backgrounds like mine, it offers support they might not get elsewhere. That matters in this conversation.

Young people are not enthusiastic about voting for Labour - you can see it on social media, in conversations with friends, or even at school. Many feel hopeless. They are rightfully worried about the rise of the far-right, the cost-of-living, and Israel’s actions in Palestine.

You’d struggle to get onto another job given some of the seedy stuff that’s come out about you pal. Not many employers want someone who chucks around sexist, misogynistic and homophobic comments - you’d be what’s called an HR nightmare.
