Overnight, Royal Marines Commandos of the @RoyalNavy were involved in the interception of a shadow fleet vessel. They were supported by @HMSSutherland, @HMSLedbury and the Maritime Air Group.

💬 @jamesmurray_ldn welcomes the BMA's decision to call off the resident doctor strikes which were due to take place next week.
Full statement 👇
ALT Part one of two of a quote from Secretary of State for Health and Social Care James Murray.
"It is a positive and welcome development – especially for patients – that the BMA have called off these unnecessary strikes.
"I am pleased that the BMA have understood they have a Secretary of State and a government that wants to work with them for the benefit of both resident doctors and patients.
"After a 28.9% pay rise for resident doctors over the last three years, the country simply cannot afford to increase the pay offer for this year. I am pleased that the BMA have recognised this, which has allowed us to make progress in other areas, such as training places and working conditions.
"I want to thank staff across the NHS for the way they have consistently risen to the challenges posed by repeated strike action. I hope they will be encouraged by today’s step forward, as will patients and the taxpayer, who can be reassured that all the necessary funding is coming from existing budgets."
ALT Part two of two of a quote from Secretary of State for Health and Social Care James Murray.
"The government will now work intensively with the BMA over the coming days to finalise the details of the deal before it is put to their members. In line with the terms agreed today, the BMA Resident Doctors Committee, whose leadership have worked constructively and intensively with my officials to agree this deal, must now recommend this deal to their members.
"This is a good deal for resident doctors. It boosts their pay, improves their career prospects, and improves their working lives. It represents the chance to draw a line under the damaging disputes of recent years and to usher in a new period of industrial peace, where the government and resident doctors work together to make the NHS fit for the future."
Thousands more raids and dodgy shops closed.
Hundreds of bosses behind bars.
Millions in dirty cash seized.
That is the fate awaiting the criminal gangs operating in plain sight on our high streets.
This morning I asked Secretary of State for Transport Heidi Alexander MP about the use of illegal e-bikes and e-scooters. Not only is the use of these things dangerous, it is also intimidating for other residents.
Watch to see her response.
Yesterday I raised the issue of street racing across Halesowen to Simon Lightwood MP, Minister for Roads and Buses. I also raised my concern that both Sandwell and Dudley Council have withdrawn from the High Court Injunction banning street racing.
Watch to see his response.
It was great to bring together a range of local businesses on Friday, giving business owners the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing them and our economy.
We have some truly innovative businesses here in Halesowen.

Exclusive:
Ministers will use national security exemptions to ensure that billions of pounds of additional funding for defence is spent in Britain rather than given to American or European companies
John Healey, the defence secretary, will use a speech at the GMB union’s congress to announce plans to favour British-based companies
He will add that if a defence contract is “sent overseas”, the industry will be required to create jobs in the UK, describing the approach as “unashamedly pro-Britain”.
He will say: “The government will develop a new approach that looks to give credit in future defence contract decisions to British-based companies based on a genuine, substantive presence in Britain and long-term commitments to British communities and British supply chains.
“As part of this drive, I can announce I will make greater use of national security exemptions for defence contracts — which allow the government to require certain capabilities to be built in Britain — supporting our UK industrial base and your members’ jobs.
“We will ensure that, in large defence contracts, there are provisions to require any significant sub-contracts to be placed with UK-based companies, or guarantee competitions so UK competitors aren’t shut out.”

I have added my name to this letter, calling to ban trade with Israeli settlements.
Israel is seeking to prevent even the possibility of a Palestinian state through their activities in the West Bank.
This should be opposed.
Together with almost 140 fellow Labour MPs, I have written to the Foreign Secretary to call for a ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements. Our group includes every Labour select committee chair.
It’s time to be clear that settlements have no viable economic future

I was delighted to visit Midlands Air Ambulance Charity on Thursday and see the incredible work they do to save lives across our area.
It was fascinating to learn about their response times, tour their facilities, and hear from the staff whose expertise makes such a difference.
I’m not going to amplify Reform’s ad by sharing it, but the wilful misrepresentation of Kemi Badenoch - selectively quoting what she said about ‘white lives matter’ - is disgraceful and dangerous.
It needs to be challenged, including by those of us who are not Conservatives.
Massive congratulations to Halesowen-born Morgan Rogers who has been called up to the England squad for the 2026 World Cup👏 🏆️
Amazing to see Halesowen represented on the big stage. Good luck to Morgan and the rest of the England team. It's coming home!🏴
Wishing anyone celebrating across Halesowen, Cradley, Wollescote, Cradley Heath, Old Hill, Quarry Bank and Dudley Wood a happy and blessed Eid al-Adha! May this blessed day bring you peace and joy🌙✨

It’s extremely addictive, bad for our health, and causing real harm to our children.
It’s time for action.

Six days ago, I wrote to Nigel Farage with five questions about his secret £5m donation.
Since then, he’s had nothing to say.

Stunned, appalled, shocked etc to see actual tax reform from a politician. This from Wes Streeting today.
A thread on why capital gains tax is broken. It's too low AND too high. & why this is a good proposal.
