Israel attacked the USS Liberty even though it was clearly marked with a US flag. They didn’t stop after the first strike that killed 11 people, attacking the ship a second time.
They even attacked lifeboats that were trying to flee.
The USS Liberty called for help and US helicopters were en route, but Robert McNamara called those helicopters back.

Massie also said there was a 17-hour delay before help reached the survivors of the USS Liberty, and called the attack intentional murder by the state of Israel. These are extraordinary accusations that stand in direct conflict with the official findings.
That is why @RepThomasMassie argues Congress should reopen an investigation.
While some claim the attack was part of a larger plot to drag the US into war, no declassified US or Israeli documents have confirmed those claims. Massie's point is whether the American people received a complete accounting of the event that killed 34 US servicemen.
