Once considered the most threatened bird in the world with 4 remaining on the island in 1974, the Mauritius Kestrel defied all odds to become one of the world's greatest conservation stories to date. After a few days graft, we secured some blinding views of this endangered bird!

Another lifer for me this evening, a small, weird, bubble sound making quail. I was under the impression they were skulky, this one flew a few times and even sung in view for a few minutes! Corn bunts, yellow wags, marsh harrier, grey parts also at Rixton Moss @CAWOSBirding

The Grey Phalarope at Wombwell Ings on Wednesday evening was quite a stunner! Not often you see one in summer plumage in the UK.

A firm favourite and much wanted bird from Big Island (Hawaii Island) was the critically endangered Palila. At one point I had eight of these critically endangered honeycreepers in a bush high up a slope, right infront of me with more calling around me. Great birds!

Cracking views of Algerian Nuthatch today but it kept us waiting. After nearly 4 chilly hours of walking around an Oak forest in wind and rain we had nothing. Then BOOM! A pair of these beauties performed for a good half an hour! #Algeria #BirdsSeenIn2026 #zootherabirding #birds

Ortolan Bunting (female) 📷 Apparently paired up with Yellowhammer & has been seen carrying nesting material 😮 Possibly now incubating, which may explain sightings every 2hrs or so, as it leaves nest for drink / eats 🤷‍♂️ @britishbirds @_BTO @nybirdnews #Wykeham 26 Jun 2025
