The new Census data for Oklahoma City has been released, and our city population is now officially 719,849. We are the 21st-largest city in the United States.
Also of note, our OKC metropolitan statistical area (MSA), which includes our neighboring suburban cities, has surpassed 1.5 million people for the first time in our history, with an official total of 1,512,813.
Back to the topic of our city population of 719,849: To reach this new total, Oklahoma City added 6,104 residents from 2024 to 2025. This makes us one of the fastest-growing cities among the top 50. Among the top 50 U.S. cities, here are the 12 cities that added the most people from 2024 to 2025. OKC is 12th in growth among the top 50 cities, and if you don’t see a city listed here, you know that they added fewer new residents than Oklahoma City (or in many cases, actually lost residents).

Growth presents challenges, and we’ll be talking in the next year about how we meet the transportation challenges of growth. But growth is also validation that we are continuing to build a city where people want to live. And if you were here already, you’re among the lucky ones.
