I’ve been trying the concepts of @ThePrimeagen’s “99” AI coding pattern over the past few days and it feels like a really good alternative to vibe coding. You don’t have to use his vim plugin if you’re not a vim user. The pattern goes something like this: 1. Start as if you were going to write code the old school way 2. Stub out empty functions with good names, good types, and a brief comment description in the interior of how it works, so you don’t get stuck on small implementation details 4. Then have Claude Code or Cursor infill the function implementations, and review those The benefit is that I still retain full control over the structure and architecture of the code, and I understand it super well, but can move much more quickly. Still exploring (just a few days in), but there’s something here.
