I have a full-time job and work a lot on personal projects. The question I keep coming back to: how to combine the two, not burn out, and make real progress on each. I've built a flow that works — and I keep refining it. Dumping my thoughts here as I figure it out.
There was a moment when I was playing a PS5 game with some friends, and I noticed that certain people weren't really competing with everyone else—they were competing with me specifically. They seemed especially determined to beat me, rather than focusing on winning against the others.
After my first "WTF?" reaction, I realized that I had just won a couple of games in a row, and they were doing it because I was playing quite well, yeah.
“If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing you should do is stop digging.” One of the developers I respect most often quotes this, and I’m always surprised by how many people do the exact opposite.
I know @obra from the Keyboardio Model 100 that I bought. What a surprise it was to come across him again as the creator of one of the most popular AI libraries: github.com/obra/superpowers
The daily notes then roll up into weekly ones — fewer details, more of the big picture. For a while this was a struggle: I'd get lazy about writing them. Now I just generate the weekly note with AI, feeding it the daily ones.

So I gave Fable 5 the watchmaker benchmark: a full Swiss lever movement in Three.js. Real gear ratios (18,000 bph), working escapement, breathing hairspring — and the hands tell actual time. It verified its own work with vision, in a loop, until done. ⌚
One of the main issues for me with agentic development is not getting distracted while the AI works for 15 minutes or so. I still haven’t figured out how to handle that.
Website Downloader (chromewebstore.google.com/de…) is growing again after users dropped off following its sudden removal. The one thing I’m grateful for is that I didn’t lose a product with 100k users.
