After 3 years lying in a pile of paperwork, I finally got my @MorningstarInc magazine profile cut, framed and hung in the home office.

I had cancelled my @tntsports subscription until next season, thinking the European finals would be free to view as usual. What a disgrace that people have to pay to watch the finals.

“You are willing to pay a higher cost for discretionary fund management. This approach offers better investment outcomes”. 🤔 From a Schroder Personal Wealth suitability letter. 2% pa all in. £1M AUM. I've been asked for a 2nd opinion.

Thanks to @DanOakesBP for helping me out with something today. I really miss being able to reach out to other planners here. Where does everyone stay in touch these days for professional chit chat?

Fascinating as always. Great @nfergus clip on the allure of comparing the 1920s/30s with today… despite some fundamental differences.

Been a while since I've been on here. Think I'll take a look around. A few of you might get some out of the blue likes!

I could be wrong but it feels like they're saying "Just so you know, if you do it, it can't be reversed when we don't make changes." HMRC issues pre-Budget tax-free cash warning citywire.com/new-model-advis…

Ever tried to cash transfer a SIPP out of @ajbell Investcentre? A warning. AJ Bell won't sell the existing funds, even though there's a valid ORIGO transfer request. The existing adviser must do that. Problematic if your new client doesn't want to deal with them anymore. 1/3

So, you manage to get the existing adviser to transact the fund sales. All good? Not so fast! The sales don't settle to the cash account from where the transfer is made. AJ Bell wont move it, so you have to go back to the existing adviser again to make a cash movement! 2/3

Well why don't I just become the new adviser on the account and do it myself. That requires a change of agency paperwork and online registration for a platform I don't use and AJ Bell don't take adviser telephone instructions. Talk about making it hard to transfer out. 3/3

When you FULLY complete DB retirement forms worth hundreds of thousands for a client, provide crystal clear instructions, and highlight ALL of the declarations, and it STILL comes back missing TWO signatures 🤦🏽

I'm at Barclays to deal with some POA stuff for my parents and transfer an ISA for them. Can't do it online. Gonna be fun to talk to the adviser!

TBF, the adviser is just getting on with what I want, no additional sales. Having said that they don't appear to know what a Chartered Financial Planner is. Keep referencing to me as an accountant!

"The maturation of every investor starts with absorbing almost everything, and ends with filtering almost everything." 💯 You need to have understood it all to know that most of it doesn't matter. Most investors don't know what's unimportant.

IFA sense check pls. Met a 66 yo, no health conditions, large sum in a Business Relief IHT scheme. Bit early in life for that, surely? Could spend or gift outright rather than hold an expensive, high risk investment until death (maybe 30 yrs away!) What am I missing?
