I've finally given in to the dark side and joined Twitter. Here's a video of everyone's favourite Science Lab, Farley (aka Adventure Puppy) on his way to do some field work.

My wife, Shannon, is once again partnering with @MEActNet to provide a modified movement class for people with ME and other chronic illnesses. If you are interested in yoga that is designed not to exacerbate symptoms, check it out or pass along to anyone who could benefit.

This is probably among the best aurora displays I have seen. Definitely the best this far south on the southern shore of @LakeOntario16 . Shared with good friends.

If I was a prospective grad student again, I'd jump at this opportunity. @EvelynGaiser is one of my favorite humans and an awesome scientist and mentor! Not sure about Franco's hair though?

It's #EarthDay and all the "trending" items are from politics, entertainment, or sports. Meanwhile, daily global sea surface temperatures have been in record territory now for ONE YEAR STRAIGHT! Can we maybe pay attention to what's really important here, even for ONE DAY? Please?

Do this. Working with @EvelynGaiser is awesome and the Everglades is a pretty cool spot.

Super cool #WinterLimnology research.
The final version of @ZepernickBN's paper is finally out as online early in the ISME J. Appropriate timing given low ice L. Erie '24 so far. Declines in ice cover are accompanied by light limitation responses and community change in freshwater diatoms academic.oup.com/ismej/artic…

No big surprise, but the algae growing on the ice bottom in #LakeoftheWoods a couple weeks ago was almost exclusively Aulacoseira islandica. This taxon is also resident on the underside of #LakeIce in the #GreatLakes (when and where it happens). #WinterLimnology #WinterPhycology

A thread looking back at our just-ended #LakeoftheWoods #WinterLimnology expedition. Now I've had a day of traveling and an evening at home to reflect what I saw over the last 10 days, both on the lake and elsewhere. We saw some striking climate change impacts firsthand. 1/n

Even further north, remote indigenous communities were even more severely impacted by winter road closures from rapidly deteriorating ice conditions. A striking illustration of disproportionate climate change impacts on indigenous communities. 7/n cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/…

An aside: Even the gear companies are feeling the climate change burn this "winter." @mec are email campaigning to offload a surfeit of unsold winter equipment. Lots of things we don't think about when we think about warmer winters
