You live on a planet where trees warn each other of danger through roots that touch beneath the earth. Where octopuses dream in colors. Where elephants return to the bones of their dead and linger there in silence, as if remembering. Where bees dance to tell one another where to fly. Where flowers bloom after the fire, as if rebirth were their way of speaking. Where crows remember cruel faces and teach their young to recognize them. Where ants build cities with tunnels and bridges invisible to the hasty eye. Where cats purr at a frequency that can help heal bones. Where whales sing songs that cross the oceans and shift a little with each encounter. Where squirrels adopt orphaned young and care for them as their own. Where dolphins call to each other by name, and horses recognize the sound of a friendly voice. Where butterflies remember migration routes their ancestors followed many summers ago. Where fungi create infinite networks beneath the earth, helping forests breathe as one. Where wolves tend to their elders and sing together to the moon. Where fireflies relight the night so crickets have something to sing to. Where fish school together for protection, moving as if they were a single body. Where turtles return year after year to the same place where they were born. Where old trees keep the story of the weather, of time, and of man in their rings. Where life, even in silence, remembers the kiss of light. You live there. In a world that feels, that cares, that remembers. Happy day :)

Your department proscribed them. Answering "yes" is a Terrorism Act offence and carries a sentence of up to 14 years. You know that. What you don't know is that this sort of politically immoral thuggery is as old as politics itself. Sophocles, around 441 BC, wrote Antigone, the main theme: state law and moral law are not identical. The principle runs from him through Aquinas to the suffragettes to King in Birmingham Jail. The real question is whether direct action against Elbit Systems UK, supplier to the army the UN found to be committing genocide in Gaza, is terrorism or the bare minimum for any human with conscience. The "lawful businesses" the Court protected are arms manufacturers. Your government licenses the exports. The criminalisation of conscience, by a government supporting an apartheid state carrying out a genocide, is a barbaric "celebration" of the genocide itself. Pathetic.

The Suffragettes were more violent. Their 1912-1914 campaign involved hundreds of arsons and bombings that killed at least four people and injured many others. Palestine Action's actions have centered on property damage and disruption at arms firms and bases, with no deaths attributed to them.

Read that again: “The average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s.” That’s because of the proscription of Palestine Action. It is absurd. It is self evidently absurd. And history will damn every last person implicated
The average terror suspect arrested in England and Wales is now a white woman in her 50s as a result of the Palestine Action ban 2,800 arrests were made for supporting the group in 6 months -surpassing number of terror suspects detained in previous decade inews.co.uk/news/politics/uk…

The difference between Palestine Action the suffragettes is that the Suffragettes made and used bombs. Palestine Action sought to disable arms factories producing weapons used by Israel in its genocide of Gaza. Curiously, the suffragettes described THEMSELVES as terrorists. Pankhurst stated that the suffragettes committed violent acts because they wanted to "terrorise the British public"

In upholding the proscription of Palestine Action, Lady Chief Justice Baroness Carr showed she was historically illiterate. Contrary to her claims, the Sufragettes were neither a peaceful civil disobedience group nor did they operate "transparently in the open". Their hundreds of bombing and arson attacks are known to have injured at least two dozen people, many of them postal workers, left with severe burns. Their bomb and arson squads organised this violence through underground cells. Leaders were kept in a network of safe houses to avoid discovery by police. And leader Emmeline Pankhurst used body doubles and assumed names to evade police capture. There's even a 2015 Hollywood movie, Sufragette, showing all this. This sudden level of ignorance by our political and judicial class is entirely manufactured. The Sufragette movement was far, far more violent and clandestine than anything Palestine Action has been doing. That's not an argument against the Suffragettes. It's argument exposing the utter hypocrisy of the politicians, judges and media peddling lies to justify crushing an organisation trying to expose UK government complicity in Israel's genocide.

As former British ambassador Craig Murray notes, a raft of recent legislation has given the police and courts enormous, authoritarian powers, including the right to treat any form of civil disobedience as terrorism because it seeks to "influence the government". The timing of Judge Johnson's sentencing of the Filton Four as terrorists on Friday, after a jury had found them guilty only of a relatively minor charge of criminal damage – as well as the renewed cacophony of fake news about a policewoman having her spine broken / smashed, rebutted by Murray in his latest article – is not accidental. As Murray points out, the purpose is to smooth the path for the Court of Appeal to reverse the High Court's recent ruling that it was "unlawful" of the government to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. The Appeal Court will issue its decision tomorrow (Monday). The government is desperate to ensure the crushing of Palestine Action continues and thereby prevent the group from drawing attention to the UK's continuing complicity in Israel's atrocities, such as our hosting of Israeli factories that make killer drones for use in Gaza. Every boat that arrives brings a question along with the migrants: what kind of world have we built, if so many brothers and sisters must risk death to seek life? Human dignity demands legal and safe pathways, rescue and assistance, real cooperation against traffickers, effective protection for victims, serious processes of reception and integration, and policies that allow every person to live with dignity in their own land. We cannot grow accustomed to counting the dead. Human dignity has no passport and does not lose its value when crossing a border. #ApostolicJourney

All of those things are illegal. All of those things have laws which make them illegal. All of those things were put before a jury - in some cases twice. The jury convicted on all of those things. The sentencing judge, after the jury had convicted under the relevant laws, decided he was going to chuck in "terrorism" for good measure, just cos. Are you really so stupid as to not see how wrong it is to do that? Or should people be sentenced according to what judges have decided they have done rather than what they have been charged and convicted for?

🧐🤔YOU WANTED A WALL, TRUMP? YOU’LL HAVE ONE. Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, responded to Trump’s threats: “So you voted to build a wall. Well then, dear Americans — even if geography isn’t your strong suit, and you see America as a country rather than a continent — you should know that on the other side of that wall stand 7 billion people. And if the word ‘people’ doesn’t resonate with you, let’s call them ‘consumers.’ Those 7 billion consumers can switch from iPhone to Samsung or Huawei in less than two days. They can trade Levi’s for Zara or Massimo Dutti, and within six months replace Ford and Chevrolet with Toyota, KIA, Mazda, Honda, Hyundai, Volvo, Subaru, Renault, or BMW — brands that are already more popular in many places. They can cancel DirecTV. And even if they choose not to, they can stop watching Hollywood films and turn instead to higher-quality productions from Latin America or Europe — with richer storytelling and better filmmaking. Believe it or not, people can skip Disney and visit the Xcaret resort in Cancún instead — or explore destinations across Mexico, Canada, or South America. Even in Mexico, you can find better burgers than McDonald’s — with higher nutritional value. Have you ever seen pyramids in the United States? Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, and Sudan have ancient wonders — none of them in the U.S. If they were, Trump would probably have bought and resold them by now. We know Nike isn’t the only sneaker brand. There’s Adidas — and even Mexican brands like Panama. We understand economics better than you think. And we also know that when those 7 billion consumers stop buying American products, unemployment will rise, and your economy — trapped behind its own self-imposed wall — will begin to collapse to the point where you’ll be begging for help. We didn’t want to do this. But you wanted a wall? Well. You’ve got one.” Her approval rating has reached a historic level — according to a recent poll, it stands at 85%.

There are lots of people on here drinking the security services Kool Aid over the sentencing of the Filton Four. They believe the judge was right to overturn the jury's decision to convict four anti-genocide activists of criminal damage and make it a terrorism offence instead, overturning centuries of legal precedent. Why? Because, they claim, the four activists broke / smashed / shattered a police woman's spine. But that obviously can't be the explanation because three of the activists had nothing to do with that incident and yet they were convicted as terrorists by the judge anyway. Even Samuel Corner, the activist who was convicted over this incident (which left the police woman with a minor fracture, according to the medical authorities who testified), shouldn't have been sentenced as a terrorist for it because that is not what the jury, which heard the actual evidence, decided. The jury convicted Samuel Corner of grievous bodily harm *without intent*. The prosecution had charged him with GBH *with intent* because they needed that as his conviction to build a public mood in support of the proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. If Corner could be presented as having entered Israel's Elbit weapons factory with intent to commit violence, then the implication would be that the other activists were in on that plan – a conspiracy – and the government would be off the hook of violating fundamental legal norms by proscribing Palestine Action. By stripping out intent, the jury pulled the rug from under the government's feet. Judge Johnson's task was put the rug firmly back in place by riding roughshod over the jury's decision and sentencing them as terrorists anyway. The timing couldn't be more convenient. On Monday, the Appeal Court will be deciding on the government's appeal against the High Court declaring its proscription of Palestine Action unlawful. If you're peddling the "But they smashed the back of a police woman" line you've been fed by the Daily Mail and BBC, it's because that is exactly what the government needs you spouting as it upends our age-old rights to jury trials, as it stamps out an honourable tradition of direct action dating back to the Suffragettes and before, and as it gives itself cover for continuing complicity in a genocide. Stop being a cuck. Don't fall for this psy-op.

Sentenced and imprisoned on grounds of “terrorism” that no jury ever convicted them of. Meanwhile, the British government continues to aid and abet the greatest crime of our time. A historic miscarriage of justice — and a truly dark day for civil liberties in this country.

Literally every comment I’ve read completely misses the legal point. ARE PEOPLE THAT THICK? To introduce charges and then impose sentences that were not part of the trial and not put to the jury is the really terrifying point. Surely an appeal on constitutional / procedural grounds is possible ???
Anyone who cares about our civil liberties should be alarmed about the outcome today. Years of imprisonment and sentenced as terrorists — with 15 years on license — after no charges or convictions of terrorism. All this while the UK continues to send arms to a state that is committing the gravest of crimes against humanity.
