Gave up stressful city life in 2015 & moved to rural West Wales. Love gardening, growing my own veg, nature & wildlife. A plantaholic with a fork & spade π±π
The OH has always been a bit down about not seeing any of the frogs from the pond once they have left, always worried that they don't make it, but it's made his day discovering 3 little frogs when he went to move a pot. All safe & sound & now back underneath (it's on pot feet) πΈ
Excuse my very poor video skills. This is Rox who comes to the window every couple of hours for a feed. I must brush up my video and editing skills π€£
Is there anything more annoying in the garden than the hosepipe that gets snagged on every nook and cranny? Yes it's the expensive attachments that leak down your arm or all over your feet after a couple of weeks useπ¬
A rather grey & cool day here again with added drizzle. So we decided to head to the beach & do a coastal walk. First one I've done in ages since I injured my knee, it was a lot slower than normal but we managed to do 3.6 miles so quite pleased. Hope you've all had a good day π€
The weather this year is driving us both into a big black hole. I think it's time to book our first holiday in over 14 years. Kefalonia?, Santorini? Rhodes?, Who knows, just somewhere not wet & windy π
We do everything we can to support wildlife in our garden, so what do Carmarthenshire council do today? They send the flailing machines out to cut the hedgerow's & verges, it's still nesting season here! We have shrews, voles, & all kinds of bees & insects @BBCSpringwatch π π
I put an old cat bowl on a table by my back door some weeks ago with bird food in to help support a robins nest a few feet away. They've now fledged but one of the adults comes to the window & sings to me to tell me it's empty & comes to my feet in the garden. So sweet π₯π₯
This afternoon I spent watching the wildlife in my garden. Lots of var of birds feeding their fledgling's, damsel & dragonflies hovering over the ponds laying eggs, newts surfacing, field mice scurrying around, red kites & buzzards flying overhead. Just as a garden should be π
And not forgetting all the different bees & other insects flying around enjoying nectar, along with the squirrel's scurrying around the trees looking for an opportunist snatch of food from the bird feeders.
Last year I saw this rose in my clients front garden, it looked marvellous so asked for a cutting. He also didnβt know the variety but said it was at least 30 years old.. I know itβs a long shot but anyone can identify the variety? #gardening
Just back from my favourite nursery @FarmNurseries where I purchase 3 different varieties of Rodgersia for a particular damp area at the back of the pond. I fell in love with a gorgeous specimen tree of Pterostyrax & would have bought it but our garden is just too exposed π
πΏπΈ One day to go! πΈπΏ Excited to announce my first plant stall at Footherley Hall, Shenstone tomorrow! πΌβ¨ I'll have lots of hardy perennials, including starter collections of Salvia and Penstemon.
Perfect for adding some vibrant life to your garden! πΏπ#hardyperennials
When I created pond No.1 we chose not to have fish as I wanted it to be as wildlife friendly as possible & we are in prime Heron territory. I've not added any plants to it in at least 16 months so I was not expecting to find fish fry in it today. Has it been raining fish? π€ ππ
Please do repost to help spread the word: We have 8 lovely #gardens opening for the National Garden Scheme #charity in Steppingley Village, Bedfordshire today 26th & 27th May, 12-5pm. Adm Β£10, children free. Plant sales, hot dogs and plenty of tea and cake. See thread for photos!
A dry day for us so more planting at the back of the pond. Some plants are relocations from elsewhere or cuttings taken last year. Only room for a few more select plants as we've decided to add a seating area to watch the wildlife. Also planted sweet corn & beetroot #gardeningX
