📢 Beyond excited to announce publication of the Social Media Use Scale (SMUS) in Assessment! We factor analyzed the things people do on social media and discovered four distinct categories of social media behaviors. doi.org/10.1177/107319112311…
Consumption-based SMU relates to activities centered around consuming social media content (e.g., watching videos, aimlessly scrolling). In both studies, it was associated broad social media use and enjoyment.
This research reveals the complexity of social media use and introduces a novel four-factor structure. The Social Media Use Scale offers a comprehensive tool for measurement that we hope will be utilized by researchers and clinicians alike!
We still need people to pilot our anti-racism climate survey! If you’re a current grad student or faculty member in a clinical/counseling doc program, see the attached flyer for more info and take this survey for a chance to win $50! tinyurl.com/PATSurvey2022
