ALT Job description for Program Coordinator of the Benthic Ecology Lab at the Smithsonian Marine Station in Fort Pierce, Florida. Type: Full-time (40 h/wk) with full benefits package Compensation: $49,758/year, plus annual cost of living increases at the federal rate Description: A full-time position is available in the Benthic Ecology Laboratory at SMS to serve as the Program Coordinator for a long-term benthic infaunal monitoring project. The project focuses on characterizing benthic infaunal communities from the Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie Estuary as part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). Authorized by the US Congress in 2000, CERP is the largest hydrologic restoration plan ever enacted in the US. The Program Coordinator will perform research to evaluate ecosystem health that will inform CERP restoration efforts and adaptive management practices. This position is largely lab-based research and involves lab management, with quarterly field work.
