I don't think anyone should advise you as an immigrant in Western countries, especially in the UK to start thinking beyond ILR. I don't know about others, but I hardly get worried by all this talk about immigration policies. Maybe, because I've not seen myself staying here for long even if I become a British citizen by document. Unfortunately, the UK politicians are mostly pushed by online opinions even from other countries and influencers like Elon Musk. What's happening in Belfast is a statement to every immigrant in the UK that the smiles you get, the hi, and you're alright greetings you get can change overnight when an immigrant whether legal or not acts crazy. No matter how much you want to comfort yourself with integration, you'll always be black in the eyes of many. So, work legally as you do, do all the right things you can do here, save that money, save it well, and more especially, support good governance in your home country. I get pissed seeing Nigerians in the UK, Canada, and more supporting this current government because of personal interest, religion, or tribe. We need to have outgrown this nonsense. Also, add greater value to yourself so that your relevance will be across borders while we hope good governance and leadership will become a reality soon. Stop begging or appearing beggary to people you're better than in all aspects - education, exposure, skills, because you want a place to stay. If they want to send everyone home, they should. It's their country but go back prepared than before. It starts now, save that money! If you're single, you're in luck now, with less responsibility. Use it right! Whether you like it or not, nowhere is better than home! Think home!

My day so far: I woke up really strong and motivated, ate something, did a bit of chores and now it’s midday. That’s my update so far. What about you?

If you hit a toddler with a comb today, I wonder what you’ll hit him with tomorrow if he does something bigger. Parents needs to learn anger management before raising kids. It’s very important. This right here is extreme.
What I see is anger rather than discipline. He picked the nearest object he could find, a wide-toothed comb to vent his anger and he hit him until the comb broke. That wasn’t an appropriate tool to use on anyone, let alone a toddler. He could have seriously injured him. Maybe speak to him a few days after. Tell him you’re not trying to stop him from disciplining his son, but he needs to reflect on whether he’s actually correcting the child or simply taking his anger out on him. And if he must do it, he should at least use a proper cane

My husband beat our toddler with a comb today... and the comb broke.😭 Honestly, that's what shocked me the most. I've been crying with my son since,I feel like it pained him so much. I understand correcting a child. I'm not against discipline, and I know parenting isn't always easy. But when I saw the broken comb, I couldn't help but wonder if it was too harsh. We ended up arguing about it. His response was, "I'm the father. I would never intentionally hurt my child. And I believe that. But I also feel that using a comb to beat a toddler, to the point that it breaks, is excessive. Maybe I'm being emotional because he's my baby. Or maybe some forms of discipline go too far, even when the intention isn't to harm. Parents, I genuinely want your opinion: Are my overreacting? Copied...

Dear Nigerians in the uk. This is a reminder to check your energy tariffs.
UK households!!! When was the last time you checked your energy tariff? Ofgem is raising the energy price cap by 13% from 1 July. Millions of people will see higher prices and won’t realise until their next bill arrives. Don’t assume your supplier is giving you the best deal. A 5min check today could save you hundreds over the next year. Who’s already fixed their tariff

This just makes me remember what my grandma used to do say that life runs in cycle. What you do today, will def come back to meet you in the future. Be it good or bad.
This morning my mind just wandered to when we were in university and students told all sorts of lies to their parents to get more money off them. Sometimes, it wasn't even money they needed for anything important, just money to flex. Sometimes, these were struggling parents with several children in school. I hope that now that most of you that did that are parents,it has dawned on you how absolutely irresponsible that behaviour was and you look back at all of it with regret. That some of you have actually broached the topic with your parents and asked them to forgive you 😢

Women can absolutely be unkind, competitive, or unsupportive toward other women. But when we’re talking about who is most likely to seriously injure or kill women, the statistics point overwhelmingly to men, not women.
Globally, around 51,000 women and girls were killed by an intimate partner or family member in 2023…an average of 140 every day. Nearly 60% of women intentionally killed were murdered by an intimate partner or family member. (UN Women) It’s not women doing those kills, so nope women are not women’s greatest enemies
