DMCC's Executive Chairman and CEO,
@ahmedbinsulayem, delivered the keynote speech at last week's Kimberley Process Engagement event in Paris organised by
@ufbjop.
Alongside world-leading maisons, diamantaires, and leaders from across the luxury, jewellery and precious gems industry, he also took part in a panel discussion and engaged in high-level discussions with industry stakeholders, outlining how responsible sourcing has evolved beyond compliance to become central to brand value, market credibility and long-term consumer trust.
Reflecting on the UAE’s leadership of the Kimberley Process, he highlighted its role in reducing conflict diamonds to well below 1% of global trade and reaffirmed its continued importance in underpinning trust and stability across the sector. He also emphasised the need to advance ongoing efforts to modernise the definition of conflict diamonds in line with evolving global expectations.
Looking ahead, he set out key priorities for further modernisation, including the establishment of a permanent Secretariat in Botswana, the development of digital certification platforms such as Verifico, and the integration of advanced technologies, including AI, to strengthen verification, risk analysis and transparency across the natural diamond value chain.
