It is profoundly heartbreaking to witness another surge of xenophobic violence in #SouthAfrica this week. Hundreds have marched on Parliament, thousands of families have been displaced, and lives have been tragically cut short. These include at least five Ethiopians killed earlier in the attacks, and five Mozambicans who died in Mossel Bay. Thousands more are now fleeing for their lives. To see South Africa turn to xenophobia is a tragic betrayal of the country's struggle for independence and freedom. African nations stood united to dismantle apartheid. Ethiopia proudly supported "Madiba," Nelson Mandela, in 1962 and issued him a passport so he could travel the continent. Other countries helped in many ways, including with political and financial support. Disagreements and grievances must be addressed by the justice system and the rule of law, never through vigilante violence and collective punishment. South Africa deserves better. Africa deserves better. Stop the hate. Protect the vulnerable. Uphold our shared humanity.

Banter aside we are not being fair to South Africa. The red card was harsh. Themba Zwane just wanted to check the Mexican player’s passport to see if he was Nigerian

SOS: FIRE OUTBREAK AT OLD GARAGE, ÒṢOGBO There is currently a major fire outbreak at Old Garage, and emergency responders are battling to contain the situation. Reports indicate that firefighters on the ground are overwhelmed as the fire continues to spread. Of serious concern is the fact that two filling stations are located dangerously close to the scene. If the fire reaches either of these stations, the consequences could be catastrophic for nearby residents, businesses, and road users. We urgently call on relevant emergency agencies, additional fire service units, security personnel, and volunteers with firefighting equipment to mobilize and provide immediate support. Residents are also advised to stay away from the area to allow emergency teams unrestricted access and to avoid putting themselves at risk. Please share this information widely and contact emergency responders if you have useful information or resources that can assist in containing the fire. #InsideOsogbo

It is deeply troubling to receive reports from parents across Ọ̀ṣun State that WAEC candidates are still sitting for examination papers as late as 7:00PM. These are young students who left their homes in the morning with the expectation of writing their examinations under normal conditions. Subjecting them to prolonged waiting hours, fatigue, anxiety, and potential security risks is unacceptable. Examination bodies have a responsibility not only to uphold the integrity of examinations but also to ensure the safety, welfare, and dignity of candidates. This situation is particularly concerning given that similar incidents of delayed WAEC examinations have sparked public outrage in recent years, with candidates in some parts of the country forced to write examinations late into the night. WAEC itself has previously acknowledged that such situations fall below acceptable standards. We call on the West African Examinations Council (@waecnigeria), the Federal Ministry of Education, the Ọ̀ṣun State Ministry of Education, and all relevant authorities to urgently investigate the circumstances responsible for these delays and put measures in place to ensure that no student is subjected to such hardship again. Our students deserve better. Their safety, well-being, and academic future must never be compromised by administrative failures. #InsideOsogbo

To the universities keeping quiet while their graduates are devalued: Your neutrality is a failure of mentorship. To the regulatory bodies tasked with protecting the profession: Your passivity is an abdication of duty. To the interns standing on the frontlines of this policy: Your resistance is a demand for dignity. This is no longer just about an allowance; it is about the baseline respect for medical expertise. This policy requires a collective response. Not a quiet acceptance.
