Prelim top-line results from Pfizer mRNA vaccine trial in >40,000 randomized pts shows >90% efficacy in preventing new COVID infections with no reported major safety issues to date. Must wait detailed scrutiny of final results before celebrating but this is very promising.

This study evaluated the metabolic effects of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass or diet alone in patients with diabetes who had lost matched amounts of weight. The primary outcome, the change in hepatic insulin sensitivity, was similar in the two groups.

In this double-blind RCT in 1063 adults hospitalized with #COVID19, a 10-day course of intravenous remidesivir was superior to placebo in shortening the time to recovery. The estimates of mortality at 14 days were 7.1% in the remdesivir group and 11.9% in the placebo group.
