Sen. @AmandaMBledsoe joined families yesterday at UK HealthCare to read The Little Engine That Could, the first book children receive through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. “There’s something special about a child getting a book in the mail with their name on it,” Bledsoe said. “For many families, those books become part of bedtime routines, conversations and memories that last long after the last page is turned. “I’m so happy the General Assembly continued supporting the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and I’m excited to see this partnership with UK HealthCare help connect even more Kentucky families with books from the very start,” she added. “Sometimes the simplest ideas make the biggest difference, and giving children access to books gives them access to their imagination, and that is something that can take them anywhere.” During the 2026 legislative session, Bledsoe, Sen. @JRAforKY and legislative leaders worked to maintain funding for the Imagination Library. Every child deserves the chance to dream, learn and imagine what's possible. Sometimes it all starts with turning a page. #KYGA26

Big things don’t happen by accident! Today’s unveiling of FUTURE LEX offers a glimpse of where Lexington is headed over the next several decades, and Sen. @AmandaMBledsoe was glad to be part of that conversation as she delivered remarks at today’s celebration. Anyone who has flown through Blue Grass Airport lately has seen the growth firsthand. You see more flights and travelers, and more businesses are looking at Central Kentucky as a place to invest, expand and create jobs. That’s one reason Sen. Bledsoe worked alongside fellow Fayette County delegates to support nearly $25 million in state funding for Blue Grass Airport improvements, including terminal expansion and critical infrastructure upgrades. At an airport, many more things are happening beyond just travelers boarding flights. It’s often the first impression visitors have of our region and all of Kentucky. It’s how businesses move people, attract talent and stay connected to customers around the country and around the world. The decisions we make today help shape what Lexington and other cities and regions across the Bluegrass look like for our children and grandchildren. Local and state leaders are thinking ahead and working together to keep Central Kentucky headed toward the right destination. Photos courtesy of Blue Grass Airport.

Today we remember the men and women who never made it home. Not as headlines or history, but as sons, daughters, husbands, wives, parents, friends and people who were deeply loved. They gave their lives for something bigger than themselves and because of that sacrifice, generations of Americans have had the freedom to live, dream, gather, laugh and grow old in this country we call home. No words will ever repay that kind of sacrifice, but we will remember them. Wherever you are today, take a moment. Speak their names. Hold your loved ones a little closer. Never forget the brave souls who gave everything for this country. Kentucky remembers its heroes today, especially Tech. Sgt. Ashley Pruitt and Staff Sgt. Benjamin Pennington. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We remember our heroes today and always. 🇺🇸

Long before most of Kentucky wakes each morning, a mother already has. She is the early alarm clock, the late-night comfort, the packed lunch, the steady voice, the sacrifice not always seen and the love no words fully capture. She carries families through hard seasons and joyful ones alike, often without recognition and without asking for applause. Across every corner of the commonwealth, mothers shape lives in ways history can never fully record, but that are forever etched in the hearts of their children. Happy Mother’s Day to the women who make Kentucky feel like home. Thank you for who you are and all you do. A special shoutout to the amazing mothers who are members of our Senate Majority Caucus. We hope your days is full of love and appreciation. #Mother

Congratulations to our very own Sen. @AmandaMBledsoe on this recognition! SEN. AMANDA MAYS BLEDSOE RECOGNIZED WITH 2026 ELECTED WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE AWARD FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 8, 2026) — Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe, R-Lexington, has been named a recipient of the 2026 Elected Women of Excellence Award by the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL). According to the NFWL, the Elected Women of Excellence Award recognizes women who have worked tirelessly to serve their communities while breaking barriers and overcoming obstacles in public service. Established in 2013 as part of the organization’s 75th anniversary celebration, the award honors women leaders from across the country for their dedication and accomplishments. Bledsoe said she is grateful for the recognition and proud to be included among women who continue to lead with purpose. “I’m honored to receive this recognition alongside so many accomplished women leaders from across the country,” Bledsoe said. “Women in public service work hard every day to strengthen their communities and improve people’s lives. I’m appreciative of the women who continue to lead in their communities and inspire future generations to serve. I hope young women across Kentucky will see what these leaders are accomplishing and feel encouraged to step forward and serve.” During her time in the Kentucky Senate, Bledsoe has focused on issues related to local government, fiscally responsible budgeting, economic growth, workforce development, education and strengthening Kentucky communities. She has emerged as a leading voice on artificial intelligence policy in the commonwealth, serving as co-chair of the legislative task force on artificial intelligence and sponsoring Senate Bill 4 during the 2025 Legislative Session. Bledsoe also has played a key role in crafting the state budget as vice chair of the Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee. In addition, she serves as vice chair of the Senate Families and Children Committee. Before joining the state legislature, Bledsoe served on the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council and worked as public policy manager for the Council of State Governments, which Lexington will host later this year for the organization’s annual conference. Bledsoe earned bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and classical studies from Hillsdale College and a master’s degree in international affairs and national security policy from the University of Kentucky Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce. The NFWL is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that supports elected women at the local, state and federal levels through policy education, networking and leadership development opportunities. Founded in 1938, the organization serves elected women across the country at the city, county and state levels. Find more details about the organization at womenlegislators.org. # # #

Today was Donna Brothers' final time covering the Kentucky Derby for NBC. Before the race, Cherie DeVaux said "it is an honor that you get to do your last walkover with me." Brothers told DeVaux, "I'm hoping you become the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby."

I saw PG just a few weeks ago. His smile and that warm, unmistakable hug felt like it always did: genuine, steady and full of the love he carried for God and for the people in his life. Over the last dozen years, I’ve come to deeply value our conversations. They weren’t always easy and we didn’t always see the world the same way. But they were always honest, always thoughtful and always rooted in a shared commitment to doing what was best for Lexington. That mutual respect meant a great deal to me and it’s something I will carry forward. PG Peeples was a giant in our community and far beyond. His leadership shaped not only institutions but lives; opening doors, creating opportunities and pushing all of us to be better. His impact will be felt for generations in ways both seen and unseen. For me, this loss is personal. I will miss his wisdom, his candor and his unwavering belief in people. Lexington is better because of PG. And we are all better for having known him.
