Video after video shows Israeli settlers violently harassing and attacking Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, seizing their livestock, bulldozing their schools, setting fire to their property and even killing Palestinians as part of a brutal campaign to forcibly displace Palestinians and expand control over the land – with full political and financial backing from the highest authorities of the Israeli state. This is what a policy of state-led ethnic cleansing looks like. Watch. Share. Demand action.

Mexico City and all federal authorities must uphold the right to protest for all groups and families demonstrating during the World Cup. Groups have been campaigning for the search and identification of their disappeared loved ones for years - work that is a legitimate form of human rights defense. This must be recognized, respected and protected. Guaranteeing the right to protest is an obligation of the Mexican State. Events surrounding the World Cup must point to humanity, not cruelty. #HumanityMustWin

🚨The recent images of Dr. Hussam Abu Safyia are shocking evidence of Israel's abuse against Palestinian detainees. Dr. Abu Safyia has been arbitrarily detained for one and a half years without charges, while being physically abused and denied healthcare. His recent solitary confinement adds a further layer of concerns over his deteriorating health. Dr. Abu Safyia must be immediately and unconditionally released. Israel must release all Palestinians arbitrarily detained. States must pressure Israel to stop abusing Palestinian prisoners. #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya

The Taliban continues to violate the human rights of women and girls through a new decree that entrenches child marriage in law - making an already dismal situation even worse for them. The decree addresses the circumstances in which women and girls can seek marriage separation. It strips them of their autonomy and gives males relatives control of their marital arrangements. It provides limited possibilities of challenging forced unions. It institutionalizes and normalizes child marriages. This must stop. The international community through diplomatic pressure and principled engagement with the Taliban de facto authorities, must demand reversal of all draconian laws in Afghanistan.

Fired for asking a question? We stand with Italian journalist Gabriele Nunziati as he takes legal action against Agenzia Nova after his contract was terminated following a question he asked the European Commission about Israel paying for the reconstruction of Gaza last October. In Europe, the silencing, censorship and repression of journalists speaking out against Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip are arbitrarily restricting the right to freedom of expression. Meanwhile, the Israeli military has been killing scores of Palestinian journalists in Gaza who were bravely continuing to report despite being themselves victims of Israeli abuses. No conflict in modern history has seen a higher number of journalists killed than Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip. Humanity must win.

By approving billions in new funding for ICE and CBP despite ongoing reports of human rights violations and other abuses, lawmakers have shamefully rewarded agencies that have carried out militarized raids, unlawful arrests and detention, racial profiling, and other actions that have terrorized communities across the country. The approval of nearly $70 billion for ICE and CBP doubles down on fear, violence and tearing families apart and gives a nod to the Trump administration that it is free to continue this disastrous and cruel system without facing accountability. More than 60,000 Amnesty International members and supporters urged Congress to reject this funding. We will continue fighting to end mass detention, abusive enforcement practices, and policies that separate families and undermine human rights.

With just a few days before the Men’s World Cup kicks off, thousands of fans from around the world risk being shut out of one of the biggest sporting events on the planet. Many have waited a long time and saved to pursue their dream of seeing their nations compete in the tournament. Instead of cheering from the stands, many are facing travel bans, visa denials, and threats of aggressive immigration enforcement from the US. With several participating countries subject to a US travel ban, and ongoing racial profiling and arbitrary arrests by ICE and other federal agencies, the country’s draconian immigration policies threaten to spill over into an event that is meant to bring people together - not tear us apart. The World Cup belongs to us all. There is no World Cup without the world. Humanity Must Win.

As hostilities escalate between #Iran and #Israel once again, Amnesty reiterates its calls for a durable and genuine ceasefire & long-term solutions to protect human rights and address root causes. In #Lebanon, where a ceasefire never really took hold, fighting continues to take a devastating toll on civilians and Israeli troops have yet to withdraw from southern Lebanon. In a region long scarred by conflict, amidst long-standing impunity for crimes under international law, further escalation would endanger the lives of millions of civilians and leave them exposed to further atrocities.
