In 2020, 60% of the electorate in Maine was female. Even as Biden won women by 23 pts, Collins won women by 3 pts - a 26 point over-performance by the GOP Sen. These split-ticket voters are who matter from now until Nov.

Oh, and who split their ticket between Biden/Collins in 2020.
The winner of the Maine Senate race will not be determined by those on this platform, young folks in Portland, or Dem primary voters. How older, white women who live in Kennebec or York Cty, who aren’t engaged right now in this, will determine it.

Today, the Democratic National Committee's Rules & Bylaws committee will be meeting to discuss what states will go first in the presidential nominating contest in 2028. There will be one state from each region of the US. You can watch online: youtube.com/watch?v=psyBv7SW…

Paxton is well-known (negatively), while Talarico is undefined, but w/ problematic media clips to be exploited. But, one has lots of $$ to start to (re)define the race (Talarico) and one doesn’t (Paxton). The race in TX is now all about $$. Will MAGA Inc pitch in to show wary & weary GOP donors that they will help Paxton get there? Our @CookPolitical post TX analysis here : cookpolitical.com/analysis/s…

Feel pretty confident that whether a Dem wins in 2028 will have zero to do with what a 2024 “autopsy” did or did not conclude.

This is a beautiful, honest love note from a Dad to his child.
I almost hesitate to promote this, because it wasn't really intended to be a piece. I just sort of sat down and it came out. Maybe someone else out there has the same type of day today, and it'll speak to them. realclearpolitics.com/articl…

April @CookPolitical Battleground District Survey, 25% of Rs & 23% of Indies said they liked Trump’s policies, but not behavior; trust R’s more than D’s on economy/culture issues. But, when Trump is center stage, the harder for substance to come through.
This week was just the latest reminder of Trump’s “indulgent” presidency: a self-centered approach that is only making a tough midterm environment that much harder for congressional Republicans. Read @amyewalter's latest column: cookpolitical.com/analysis/n…

About last night. Trump is winning the battle for the soul of MAGA. But MAGA alone isn’t enough to win the midterms. Not when his approval rating w/ indies is at 27% and ‘normie’ Rs are unenthusiastic about voting this fall. Our @CookPolitical analysis cookpolitical.com/analysis/n…
