We already knew LAION-5B, used to train many of the biggest AI image models, contained CSAM. Now it emerges it also contains photos of children with identifiable information (names, location etc.). Of only 5,850 images sampled, 190 were identifiable photos of children. This included screenshots from unlisted YouTube videos and photos from web pages not indexed by Google. That is, images that were meant to be private. AI image generators trained on LAION-5B have famously been used extensively to generate CSAM. We now know that photos of real children have been used to build these models, without permission. theguardian.com/technology/a…
