Canada’s March to the Match continues to work its way through the Toronto streets toward the stadiums. Beautiful scenes as fans chant and cheer and high five fans who are lining the streets. It’s going to be electric inside the stadium today.

This was completely avoidable and we can still avoid the next 5 months if the provincial government really wanted to. Let’s focus on the issues that matter most to Edmontonians and Albertans instead of creating economic instability.
Some Alberta companies say the unstable political climate in light of the separation referendum question is spooking investors and prompting them to consider moving operations elsewhere: "It’s not good for us." #yyc globalnews.ca/news/11867633/…

Edmonton is and always will be a vital part of Canada. Premier Smith and the UCP Government's separatist agenda is catastrophic for Edmontonians, Albertans, and all Canadians.

I will be fighting against this separation referendum, and I encourage all Edmontonians to not be complacent. Edmontonians believe in this country. I believe in this country.

Great to join Edmonton Mayor @AndrewKnack & @ryanjespersen in studio on @RealTalkRJ! Got a few good jabs in (no, I'm not ready to put on that Oilers jersey quite yet!) but overall great conversation on infrastructure, working with other orders of government, why a strong Alberta matters to a strong Canada, and... an important PSA on water conservation. Meeting with the Mikes (Michaels) As we pass the 4 month point since the election, I wanted to have some one-on-ones with each member of Council to stay connected with them, learn more about the issues they are hearing about from residents, and receive any feedback they have for me. Today was the meeting of the Mikes. I started with @AFPAElliott at Hart’s Table where we talked about his first 4 months on Council and everything he has been learning and enjoying. I’ve really enjoyed working with Mike and appreciate his ongoing desire to serve Edmontonians. Next up was a meeting with @michaeljanz at Mood Cafe where I got a pecan pie to celebrate pi(e) day. We discussed how we can continue to support housing and transportation choices as our city continues to grow. I always appreciate the chance to chat with my colleagues one-on-one and will keep doing that throughout the term. We all serve Edmontonians and by regularly connecting with each other, we can all better support this incredible city.

Snow and Ice Clearing Update ⚠️ Clearing crews are managing the recent flurries by applying traction material to roadways. Crews continue smoothing and maintaining a level snowpack on residential roads. Stay safe, give clearing crews adequate room to work and always drive to the current road conditions. Contact 311 to report any problem areas. For more information, visit edmonton.ca/SafeTravels

Earlier today, I announced the launch of The Downtown Action Plan Fund. This resource aims to empower businesses and organizations to collaborate with the City of Edmonton as we work to create a more vibrant, inclusive, safe, and sustainable economy in our downtown core. We understand that downtown is the heart of our city, and its economic health impacts all of Edmonton. To support this, the City is allocating $3 million to community-led projects focused on vibrancy, with a renewed emphasis on long-term and strategic investments. I’m deeply proud of the growth our downtown core has experienced, and I’m confident that even greater progress will continue. If you’re a business owner or organization with projects aligned with one of the three funding streams—programs and activations, recreational amenities, placemaking, and beautification—please apply for funding. Icy conditions may make driving difficult today. Please give yourself extra time, travel with care and consider taking transit. Our crews will be active around-the-clock to help ensure residents can access spaces, services, facilities and transportation networks. edmonton.ca/SafeTravels

Yesterday marked four years since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war. Over these four long years, many Ukrainians have lost their lives, and even more have been displaced from their homes since Russia’s unprovoked invasion. The City of Edmonton stands with Ukraine. We will continue to welcome refugees and newcomers and the keep the legacy of being a home to a vibrant Ukrainian community. Though we wish the circumstances were different, we’re honoured to be learning from and supporting our Ukrainians neighbours. I commend our partners at the Edmonton branches of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Ukrainian National Youth Federation for organizing yesterday's vigil and supporting community members during this difficult time.
