I recently joined
@RealTalkRJ with
@ryanjespersen to talk about the province's plan for rail service between Calgary and Edmonton. This is an important step forward for Calgary and Alberta. For decades, people have talked about connecting downtown Calgary, the airport, and the Bow Valley by rail. With the province advancing its Passenger Rail Master Plan, that vision is moving closer to reality. A modern passenger rail network would strengthen tourism, support economic growth, create jobs, reduce pressure on our transportation network, and better connect our region.
Calgary is Canada's fastest-growing major city. As we continue to welcome new residents and businesses, we need infrastructure that matches our ambition. This announcement makes it even more important to accelerate the Prairie Economic Gateway, complete the Green Line, and advance rapid transit connections to the airport. Together, these initiatives will strengthen Calgary's role as Western Canada's transportation and logistics hub while improving how people and goods move throughout the region.
I look forward to working with the Government of Alberta, neighbouring municipalities, Indigenous partners, the Calgary Airport Authority, and the private sector as this work moves forward. The vision unveiled today by Minister Dreeshen and Premier Smith demonstrates what is possible when we think big, work together, and strengthen the connections that support a stronger Alberta and a stronger Canada.
