GB Rail is superb news for everyone. I worked on this as Shadow Transport Secretary for four years and this is the next step in building that simpler, unified railway that delivers reliable, safe and better value journeys for passengers.

Almost 100 MPs and Peers are urging Ministers to prevent the 'Great Israeli Real Estate Event' taking place in London this weekend. The govt has an opportunity to uphold obligations under international law and take action against Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine.

We need a redistribution of economic power, so that workers can secure decent wages and working conditions, through public investment, and through the public ownership of critical sectors of our economy. Read more in @TUCGinfo's new paper 👇 tucg.org.uk/wp-content/uploa…

Thank you to @AndyMcDonaldMP for tabling important amendments to the Railways Bill which would ensure, in line with Labour’s Plan for Rail, that GBR is a single employer, creating a far simpler and efficient structure and treating staff as an asset, not as a cost to be cut.

The Railways Bill is the biggest reversal of rail privatisation in a generation. Great British Railways can end fragmentation and reinvest in services. And it can improve conditions for passengers and employees alike.

As employees transfer into GBR I urge the Govt to adopt a formal framework for sectoral collective bargaining in rail. Public ownership should create the conditions for partnership, workforce voice and stable industrial relations.

The legislation transferring the railway back into public ownership contains weaker statutory pension protections than that used to privatise it. Every railway employee should have a statutory right to participate in the Railway Pension Scheme on protected terms.

Migrant workers are what our social care services - and our health service - rely on. We should thank and reward them for the care they give - often for too little pay. Well done @unisontheunion standing up for members with the #FairVisasNow campaign - I support you.

Reform have been crystal clear where they stand, and it's not for working people. They'd rip up and repeal the Employment Rights Act and the Equality Act, and cut good pensions. They're no party of workers. There's only one party of workers, and the clue is in the name. Solidarity, not division.

‘Behind the “guy with a pint in the pub”, this is a man who consistently voted against the interests of working people.’ Trade Union Head Paul Nowak tells @AndrewMarr9 he finds Reform's 'party for the working class' image 'laughable'.

Reform are bankrolled by corporate interests and have used their positions to oppose fair pay campaigns and to vote against basic employment rights. That's why their appeal to trade unions is a complete sham. theguardian.com/politics/202…

Last week, the Minister accepted Israel's actions in southern Lebanon amount to war crimes. I'm demanding the Govt ensure it is not complicit in war crimes - suspend any support that could facilitate violations, reconsider arms exports and F-35 supplies, and use sanctions.

The Railways Bill returns to Parliament this week with its welcome establishment of Great British Railways. I've tabled amendments to: • Make GBR a single employer • Set out access to the Railway Pension Scheme • Keep rules on ticket office hours in place

Yet more unbearable grief. The war crimes & sheer barbaric inhumanity of the Israeli leadership continues unabated. What’s it going to take for the UK to fulfil its legal, moral and historical obligations to the Palestinian people by imposing comprehensive sanctions on Israel?
Family members have bid a heartbreaking farewell to Palestinian child Maryam, who was killed in an Israeli attack on tents sheltering displaced families west of Gaza City. Images showed relatives mourning Maryam as they laid her to rest. Thousands of Palestinian children have been killed and entire families wiped out during Israel's genocidal bombardment, displacement and destruction across Gaza over the past few years.
