The BDA has welcomed today’s news confirming that pupils across the country will soon be able to take a British Sign Language (BSL) GCSE and implored the Department for Education (DfE) to invest in Deaf teachers to lead this initiative. 🧵1/7

I said no I wanted to discuss in BSL so it’s easier if they give me a contact number. They said no they do not have a phone (?!) and I asked how I get around in BSL. They asked me to email! I said no it’s again English based.

This is a mess please sort this out as I’m visiting this Sat. I know I’ll be in a bad mood when I meet your staff and demand to speak to the manager. All I wanted to discuss the activities and it’s accessibility. I’m starting to doubt if I get a good day out of this!

They offered to call me but at 4pm. I reminded them that was unfair being treated differently to hearing people who can correspond via live chat in English. Apparently they refuse to give me a number to call via interpreter as I needed to organise first.
