On International Volunteers Day we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our Federation Representatives. Serving police officers, who, over and above their core policing duties have volunteered to represent and support their colleagues. Raising issues of concern around health & safety, wellbeing and welfare, their role is crucial for both PFNI and PSNI. Sometimes dealing with highly emotive issues and providing a listening ear, and quite often done in their own time. Thank you for all that you do on behalf of our members. #LETTHEMPROTECT #WEAREYOU

We had a wonderful time last night at the Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh launching the Poetry Jukebox and our 'Fragments of Scotch Poetry' curation. We celebrated the rich connectedness of Scotland and Ulster in a wide-ranging discussion about poetry, culture and language, and with readings by some of the poets in the curation. We would like to thank the @ByLeavesWeLive, the poets who came along to support the event, and all the poets who contributed to this curation. Thanks also to the co-curators of the jukebox, Maria McManus and Professor Frank Ferguson. A special thank you to the @CommunitiesNI for their generous financial support for this project and to @poetryireland and the @dfatirl whose support enabled us to take the jukebox to Edinburgh. A real pleasure to host nearly 180 Bangor Academy students! What talented poets!
Poetry Road Trip This week we made our annual pilgrimage to Bellaghy. Year 10 enjoyed the fascinating ‘Bog Bodies’ workshops, each led by an inspiring writer or poet, and explored the fantastic @SHHomePlace exhibition. The Grauballe Man ‘lies perfected in my memory’. #Heaney

Two weeks today, we’ll be celebrating a towering figure in the Scottish independence movement, the great RB Cunninghame Graham - Don Roberto - in his ancestral home, Gartmore. I’ll also be talking about my other books which will be available on the day. See you there.
