Nigerian Army, ONSA Tactical Team Neutralise Terrorist Kingpin Battijo, Over 15 Others in Kogi
Troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside the ONSA Tactical Team, have neutralised notorious terrorist kingpin Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo and more than 15 of his fighters in an intelligence-led operation in Kogi State.
Battijo, believed to be the mastermind behind the recent church attack in Eruku, Kwara State, was killed on 10 June during a failed kidnapping operation. Subsequent clearance missions dismantled much of his network, with security forces recovering over 15 terrorist bodies.
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, while briefing National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu on Monday, revealed that actionable intelligence and advanced surveillance assets were instrumental to the operation. He also disclosed that security agencies uncovered and foiled a plot by the terrorists to attack and abduct students writing the ongoing WASSCE examinations in Iluke, Kabba/Bunu LGA.
The operation marks one of the most significant counter-terrorism successes in the North Central region in recent months, underscoring the growing impact of intelligence-driven coordination between the ONSA and security agencies.
