New school year and great, MS Teams issues, can’t create class notebooks or set assignments. I’m told it’s a global issue school is working with Microsoft. The dinosaur teachers who refuse to use tech are laughing 😆 can’t blame them. 🤷🏼♀️
Loved training with @ICT_MrP today. Lots of great ideas to use with KS3. Sometimes you push on with the work and forget to mix it up and make it more interesting. New apps/websites to try and reminded me of ones I'd used before and forgotten.
#edutwitter I'm doing an online subject course with an exam board. This week we are reviewing our lesson plan templates. Do teachers actually write these out for every lesson? Most I know use the PowerPoint/One Note etc to structure a lesson.
About to go into my second full week teaching in Bangkok when UK schools start back. Glad I made the move, it's so less stressful and the students more manageable. Good luck to you all starting back this week #edutwitter
Today I am going to be observed teaching, a class I took over 2 days ago, first lesson was to complete a test, today will be a brand new topic. I am leaving the school in 2 weeks time to teach abroad. 🤷🏼♀️
#QuizizzChampion! I am actually very excited to be chosen as a @Quizizz UK School Champion. Such a good way to check progress of the students, spot misconceptions and the kids enjoy taking part. Check out the online community here: facebook.com/groups/quizizzu…
#CoolestProjectsUK So proud of my year 10 girls, they were the judges favourite hardware project and had great fun trying out all the activities. This was their project youtu.be/Grkt7QxsDeU a text to speech scanner for visually impaired people.
Attended a first meeting Teams call with my soon to be new school in Bangkok and some of the other new starters. Totally optional to attend & being recordered for those who couldn’t attend. It was such a lovely welcoming event. 🤗🇹🇭
Government response about digital skills seems to say nothing is happening... What qualification outside KS4 are they considering? #computerscience#caschat
I am in my fourth year of teaching, today I joined the almost a third club, I handed in my resignation, leaving UK education in the summer to teach abroad.
Parents evening tonight… it saddens me to learn how the really quiet students in disruptive lessons feel held back in their progress. Need to reflect on how I find more time for these students whilst controlling the behaviour of others.
Rear Admiral Grace Hopper was born on this day in 1906.
She programmed the first computer.
Q: “How’d you know so much about computers?”
A: “I didn’t. It was the first one.”
Went to Computer Science in Action at Emmanuel Centre, London with sixth formers today. We all enjoyed the speakers, some great topics, the students especially loved Quantum Computing.
Marking mock papers, I have never checked my socials so frequently, thought I'd move my phone into another room to avoid temptation...all that achieved is upping my step count. #procrastinationrocks
