I've seen a lot of FUD around @MEXC_Official withdrawals.
I'd like to share my own experience and story as a perp trader (40% of my volume was on mexc), and a mexc user for over a year and half, and why I unfortunately ended up withdrawing most of my funds.
I first joined MEXC because of their low trading fees: 0% for makers and 0.01% for takers (now it's 0.03%); liquidity is suprisingly better than some top exchanges, and volume is very decent. The UI/UX is good enough, surprisingly better than most big crypto exchanges. But things took a turn four months ago. After ranking high in their PnL leaderboards twice, I tried to withdraw between 5% and 10% of my total assets, and that's when the problems began.
I kept getting a message saying, 'Unable to withdraw due to risk control issues.' It took a while, but after talking to support, they let me withdraw again. That's when I read their terms and found out they can freeze accounts without any explanation.
I wasn't comfortable with that, so I decided to cut down my trading volume to 5%. I had to shift my positions from MEXC to other platforms, but every time I tried to withdraw, it got blocked and I had to contact support again. Then, out of nowhere, they said I needed to complete KYC to withdraw the rest of my funds. 1/What
I argued that KYC wasn't necessary since there was nothing odd about my trading and I always used the same whitelisted addresses. After some back and forth, they admitted I didn't need to complete KYC, and I could withdraw again.
So, I ended up pulling all my funds out of MEXC. It's a pity because I really liked their platform, especially the UI/UX (though they don't offer cross-margin trading)
Two odd details :
- Perps on MEXC are really weird. Orderbook bbo are always very close to Binance ones (?), funding rate matches Binance's too at all time (?). Also their futures API isn't public.
- Once, a customer service rep told me I could create extra accounts for subaccount issues, but later another support person said they could freeze accounts if they're accessed from the same IP โ which seems contradictory
Anyway, my purpose is not to FUD MEXC as I was able to withdraw everything. The UI/UX on trading is great; but the withdrawal process is the worst I've experienced, which is why I removed most of my funds.
